Description

A re-mix of a previous post; In this mix, I attempted to remove the clips I had, and tried to add a little more ambiance to the overall sound. This is one of my favorites that my brother John plays on for me, because it reflects his great talent on the guitar and his love for music. He took a rag-tag experimental effort of mine and truly made music of it, Thanks John.

An experiment with household objects.

I'm playing the cuica, Sears gas grill, Rubbermaid trashcan with Dead-blow hammer, and the 1¼" combination wrench with the ½" drive break-over bar.

My brother John (TEXASFEEL) graciously added the guitars to top it off.... Thanks, bro!

this could've been a funny tune, but it was really authentic Brasil!! I love that you experimented the way that you did. The foundation of guitar gave you tons of room for exploration. The percussion reminds me of Depeche Mode "Construction Time" era noises, only not sampled and not synthetic.

So, what did you guys throw on the grill after that tasty jam? I can smell it from here.

	Apart from the cuica this doesn't sound all that Brazilian. Samba has a very characteristic rhythm. Your rhythm section is pretty cool. I think the DIY approach is in the spirit of the everybody-join-in notion of the Brazilian carnival. The guitars are cool, but not really latin american.... Interesting.... I was born and lived there 18 years. A lot of influences in "their" music, perhaps I'm guilty of association. Samba is probably the wrong genre; me beating on the gas grill doesn't emulate the percussion executed in the traditional samba schools for certain

I would recommend "Fanfarra" and some other tunes off the "Brasileiro" album by Sergio Mendes...

If you are into 'found sounds' perhaps you have discovered the timbre clarity of metric wrenches over standard toolage.... let me know what you think. : )
I have always wanted to get a mic up to a squeaky wheelbarrow wheel- the ones with the metal tub.... it has an odd reverb quality. The results of an idle childhood

I haven't compared the UOM effect, but what does count is the size and quality/weight of the combo wrench. Pipe and crescent wrenches suck due to the damping effect of the assembled parts. The other critical aspect is how you hang the wrench - a thin leather chord works well....

My kind of Percussionist
I've always wanted to work with percussionist with a drummers sensibilities or a drummer with a percussionist sensibilities. Drummers generally play on the beat and percussionist off the beat. I've always wanted a something in-between. I would always say " Look I don't care if you play a cereal box as long as you've got a groove"
I want a percussionist like you.

Thats the best bit of rubbish I have heard in a long time....well rubbishbin anyway, oh okay you call it a trashcan. I say tomato you say tomato.......it doesn,t work when it's written down does it?
