Description
Knoxed-Up

Jeannie and I met up with Bob6stringer in Knoxville Tennessee on Sunday Nov.9. We broke some bread and--barring a place to hang-out, we took time to catch-up and transfer some GB-collab files in the parking lot of the restaurant. For three hours.

It seemed that we didn’t have a place to jam. Of course after the fact, someone at MJ or iC asked Bob, “Why didn’t you just search for a “MUSIC STORE?” Bob had an iPhone, I had an iPod Touch... but that would have been too easy. And a senior moment was had by all, but at least we came up with a title for our collab jam.

When you read the lyrics, don't laugh, it took the two of us 4 or 5 days to come up with such profound lyrics for this song, and we're darn proud it only took that long. lol

Score!
That was a fun game, Ed! We'll have to do it again, at least virtually. Not that there's anything wrong with another face-to-face; it's just that I'm 1 in 1 and don't want to blow my perfect record.

Strat on ya later, big brother.

This was a lot of fun my friend,
but I doubt you can win again, you just got lucky this time. I'm up for a rematch any time my good fellow. Only this time I'll bring along my "secret weapon"

Be well and be cool, and be warned,

Ed

How do you play an "H" chord?!
For all you "un-Americans out there who may not know the game "Battleship, the toy version (of an old on-paper game) was played with ships and a board -- with a grid (A-1 through J-10), and the board folded up to hide your ships from the other player. When Ed and I had our laptops together I said, "Hey, looks like a game of Battleship!" In the 1960s, the Milton Bradley Co. had TV adverts here in the states that popularized the tag-line: "You Sunk My Battleship!"

Languages!
In German music notation, H is B♮ (B-natural) and B is B♭ (B-flat). Strange but true.

It's alright, I knew what you were doing (I'm just being a smart-arse) and it was a great idea that worked really well!

Cheers

Dick

Thanks Dick
Didn't mean to confuse you ole timer, but we youngsters gotta play our little head games on the old folks, don't ya know.

As for the sounds, it's kinda like Memphis meets Surf City, while on a train to Chicago. Clear as muddy fields, huh Dick ?

Thanks for listening my friend and for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed our insanity.

Be well and be cool Dick,

Ed

Well Feter my friend, this was a lot of fun to do. Bob made it really easy to get excited about this one because of the guitar tracks he sent me. It made my job easy.

Glad you enjoyed it, although I hope you didn't hurt your head banging it like that, or give yourself a concussion. lol

Thanks again for dropping in for a listen my friend and for the kind words.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

Thanks Mark
If it wasn't for Bob's GPS, we would never have found each other. Why we didn't use the iPhone and GPS to find a music store, can be charged up to Old Timers disease I guess. Bob's, not mine of course !!!!

Glad you got a kick out of this one Mark. You're right, it was a lot of fun to do, but the best part of all was meeting up with Bob in Knoxville. We had us a good time in the restaurant and in the parking lot. It's a good thing Jeannie was along to take some shots or we'd never be able to prove it. lol.

Thanks again for the listen my friend. and the kind words.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

GPS! D'oh!!!
Oh yeah--I forgot all about THAT, too--a regular dashboard-mounted GPS! Danng-it, brother Ed, we are getti' long in the toofs! Let's not let the news of our senility get out in to the wild. It'll be our little secret, no public admissions, okay?

(ops... too late.)

Fun track!
I love the track, and Battleship sure brings back some memories, hehe. Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun putting this together.
sloparts said 3295 days ago (November 14th, 2008)
Thanks Mike
We had gone through 3 other titles before this one popped out of Bob's fertile mind. After we had the title we had to throw in a few game plays just to set the stage and for the fun of it.

And yes, it was a lot of fun doing it. Best part of all was I got to meet Bob face to face. That's an experience you don't want to miss if you ever get the chance. He's damn near as crazy as I am, I'll tell ya.

Thanks for stopping in to listen Mike and for the great comments.

Be well and be cool my friend,

Ed

Well, I never.
Well, sometimes... I mean, just because a man bites through hard candy, arrives at the chewy caramel center only to lose al sense of meaning in life, does that make him crazy?

Me? Crazy? F-4!

Hello Mark
I'm guessing by your response to the lyrics, that you don't get out much. It's funny how different people react to this "song". Some yawn, some cry, some go running away screaming in terror, and still others are moved to tears. Have you stopped taking your meds man? Well get back on them fast. lolololol

Thanks for the listen Mark, glad you enjoyed our little trip into the mind of your average 10 year old. We had a lot of fun with this one, and Bob6 put down some killer guitar on this.

be well and be cool man and for our sake, get back on the meds man.

Yeah we had a lot of fun with this one, even though it is such a serious subject. But life can't always be about being serious, as I'm sure you are aware.

Thanks for the listen and the great comments my friend. Glad you enjoyed out little flight into insanity., But I want you to know, the insanity is all on Bob's side, I had nothing to do with it, as Sergeant Schultz, or was the Major Hoffschteder, used to say.

Be well and be cool Dave,

Ed

I know Bob
don't those lyrics go right to the soul of the matter. Kind of reminds me of how I felt the first time I watched Soylent Green.

Anyway, thanks for coming over to listen and the the great comment on the lyrics my friend, it really is appreciated.

Yeah, Bob got me this time but it was just a fluke. He's a never beaten me if I had my air cover up that's for sure.

Glad you enjoyed this one my friend, it was a hoot working on this with Bob6. Hell of a nice guy and a fine picker to boot. Had a lot of fun when we met up in Knoxville, TN a few weeks back.

Anyway, thanks again for the kind words and for listening Joe, it is appreciated.

It was a lot of fun, we broke bread and had time to visit for about 5 hours. Bob6 is a heck of a nice guy and a really fine musician. It was a real pleasure doing this song with him.
Of course you know the only reason he beat me because I had problems getting my air cover up, don't you ? ;-)

Glad you enjoyed partaking in our little insanity my friend. Thanks for listening and the kind words.

Yeah I know what you mean about Bob. When you see the vids of him in the days of Farmagedon, he was the picture of a rebel lead guitar player. Kinda like the Slash of hillbilly Rock if you get my drift. But now he's calmed down and been tamed and is presentable in all social circles. He can still shred it on the guitar though so don't let that clean cut look fool you Matt.

Bob and I had a blast doing this one as you can imagine and I've got to say, he's a really nice guy to work with on a personal level.

Thanks again for the cool comments Matt and for listening.

Be well and be cool,

Ed
