Hitching (The Obama Legacy Mix)

Description
I've been following, in my own tiny way, the race for the White House in America. Obama won and one of the statements he has made since winning was that America, over the coming years would reduce its dependence on foreign oil and research greener, home-grown methods of power and motive force.

My take on this is the mix here called 'hitching' as it denotes the motorway/freeway of the future, with someone maybe waiting for a lift, and the traffic noises as that person waits.

The piece takes a couple of minutes to 'warm up' hence the fade-in and the end fades away somewhat more quickly.

The piece is around 13 minutes long, so you have been warned. Maybe put the kettle on whilst you listen or look at pictures in a 'Transport of the Future' book or watch 'Tron' with the sound turned down on the movie.

As always please let me know what you think.

Hi Ramonaji....
I'm glad you thought the mix was OK.

Your comment about my Tron comment made me laugh. It sounded funny to me in the way you made the comment. My comment, I thought, may be misinterpreted as I thought that people may think that I meant watch Tron with the sound (of the music) turned down. But hey, you got my real meaning.

Welcome to MJ's.

Take care.

Very well done
This is very effective. I like the build-up; it works for me in the context of the track. Sometimes a slow build-up can seem like you're waiting for the "real" track to begin, but here it seems like you're on the journey as soon as the first notes become audible. Great sounds on this, and a lovely mix. Good backstory you describe, too, and quite an image of the future. Most remarkable, I think, is that the time goes quickly for such a long track. It does not feel overlong or stretched. Downloaded for further listening. Very cool. Nicely done. Peace.

Hi Dajama.....
Thank you for your very informative and kind comments. The detail is appreciated, as it helps me try and perceive how others would 'hear' the mix. I procrastinated for a couple or so weeks before uploading due to uncertainty.

I'm happy now that I uploaded it.

Take care.

Paul

Great textures...
Are you familiar with the recordings that Holgar Czukay did with David Sylvian? This reminds me of them quite a bit. Really fine music!

Hi Daniel........
I can't say that I've ever heard of either of the two artists you mention. I'll certainly be checking them out though. Thanks for the hint.

It's always great to see you've left me a comment or two on any of my pieces.

Take care.
