For You, Physics

Description
Ok, so a friend of mine had this poem up on Facebook and I knew I had to put it to music. One thing I need to know is if the vocals are the right volume. My headphones were telling me one thing and my speakers the other. I just had fun with this and there still a few spots that need fixing but enjoy. Also, is there a better genre for this?

Lyrics
my body is coiled

with spring constant k

the tension, i know

mg? i think more

my energy, drained

for so far for so long

yet may as well have

been no work at all

specify my direction

oh you wise physics book

let’s see here, what are my constraints?

what, you don’t know?

give me my equation!

my absolute value

tell me where i will go

try more of your numbers!

share all that you know

tell me, i listen...

and hear nothing at all

Thanks for the feedback. I was trying to be overly creative with how I presented this, and so I didn't repeat much. In doing that though, sometimes it is hard to make every part of the tune seem like it belongs there. Personally, I think I would've let this tune go on longer, I don't think it was the music's time to resolve, but I had run out of lyrics. I suppose I could do a second instrumental part.

awesome
loving this. not sure about the comedy tag, just sounds like an indie track to me. i wish that it went on longer as well. you used some really cool instrumentation on this, love when it's the little piano run and the drums. this is really cool as a song, and not just a fun concept (although it works really well as that too). i like the way it ends too, you should be touring with the decemberists.

I'm glad you checked this tune out. Thanks for sharing your view. I wasn't exactly sure which genre to put it in, but I thought it was kind of silly to be singing about physics, so I put it in comedy. But if there is a more fitting genre, I'd rather have it listed correctly. I'm pleased you enjoyed this!

Russ - this is FASCINATING! Your inventiveness is quite amazing, as usual! And yeah, like M2 said, the little piano is very cool! Great track - thanks!

coolness
Hey Noah, you really should get together with Dick Langford on one of his rock opera things.
Your right there with this. Jack Black could have fun with this one too doing his Queen imitation.

Your question on the vocals. You may put a tinge louder, but also a more centered. It seemed a little louder in my right ear, but ever so slightly.

Enjoyed this one.

Thanks for checking this tune out =) I checked out a few of Dick's tunes, very fun stuff. Thanks for sending me his direction. Also, thanks for the feedback on the vocals. During the only repeated portion in this song I did have vocals panned slightly to the right. I did this since the center vocal track was overlapping at the point where these vocals come in, though I don't know if it was necessary or not, I will have to mess with it. Nonetheless the feedback is helpful. Thanks!

I can hear Freddie Mercury doing this - he's what? - oh, sorry :(

Cool tune and an interesting take. You could have done this totally straight and it would sound great too. Maybe a little short, but very well done.

Fantastic!
Very odd and full of interesting twists and turns. It's the sort of thing TMBG would do.

The vocals sound fine to me but it's the sheer originality of the piece which gets me.

Wonderful piece of work and now I'm just off to check what else you've posted.

Cheers
