Description
Didn't make a lot of music recently. Taking advantage of some winter holidays, I remixed one of my first song, Septentrion, a set of colorful chords I improvised with my Ibanez and the keyboard provided with GB I was just discovering with awe at that period… A strange mix, reminissences of Chick Correa and Santana, not really on purpose I'm afraid. I did'nt like the bass and drums, I just made it with what I had at that time. This is a much more jazzy mix, I changed all the drumming and replaced the awful electro bass. A bit more classical, but fitting better my ears !

The picture is from Denis Darzacq, a great photographer and a friend.

Happy Xmas and New Year to all !

Sounds good...
definitely has bits and pieces of Return to Forever in it. I like the string hits in this one.

Romantic Warrior
I was really into jazz-rock in 74/76, just after the "first death of rock'n'roll" (glam rock + ted nuggent) and the rebirth of it (punk and new wave). All this is personal opinion, of course. Something from Chick, Al or Stanley has let something quite deep in me, for sure !

Youra,

Good to see you back and posting a little something. This is tasty and wonderfully sparse. It certainly does have the Santana vibe, but also has some haunting open passages that are beautifully jazzy and poetic. The vibes (or are they harp?) are a cool touch. Thanks for this one.

Dear Rat
Good to see you around, too. That's certainly one of great things in posting… Thanks for your precise words. I think what you took for a harp is a nylon string guitar (digital). All the rest is keyboards, strings (cello mainly), GB loops of jazzy drums and my Ibanez Artist. I'm going to spend a bit of time around and check out what's going on here at MJ's, specially if if you posted something recently.
Phil too.

Smooth
The guitar part is a tad simple, but it's a nice sonic contrast to the electronic background. Enjoyed.

A tad
Well, it perfectly reflects my ability as a performer, I would say ! I haven't played my guitar for years before discovering GB. A good reason to carry on and practice more, but I have some difficulties to find the time…

First thing I noticed
is the excellent production. Nice restraint on the guitar parts. I like those drums a lot - they add a touch of lightness to what could otherwise have become a little too heavy.

Cool post.

Production
I have slightly improved my knowledge in mixing since I started 2 years ago. Unfortunatly, the rest is still at the same… Thanks for lending me your (great) ears, Neil.

tension
slow build at the beginning, with some tension, then the guitar goes bang! Not sure if I like the sudden transition... maybe had a "fade-in" note on the guitar, instead of the first sudden loud note?

I might want the bass up very slightly, it seemed a little quiet. The plucked strings were fun, and the guitar work was a great addition in the piece, overall. The drums did seem to be a little bit "busy" in places.

Overall the mix seems very crisp and clear, which I love. That is my thought on this... hope it is helpful.

ttfn,
Drakonis

Critiques
Yes, they always help. Whatever may be the formulation, but I thank you for your kindness and tact. I will listen back carefully my track, and see if I'm able to improve anything.
Happy New Year, Drak.

If I can find a bit of time this year, I will concentrate on more guitar playing and less looping… (this kind of big new year resolutions I never follow…)

Nice and different
The blending of a jazzy format and the orchestrated stuff in interesting. Nice sounds. Pretty sweet guitar playing. The song does seem to lose just a bit of steam at the end, Other than that, this is very cool stuff.

is certainly one of the things I do naturally with GB, the soft seems designed for that. Thanks for lending me your ears and commenting.
