Sand Flower (The Gaza Mix)

Description
This is my first new mix for 2009. The idea came about from two fronts, one the strife and bloodshed in Gaza/Israel and two the way that no matter what you make out of sand, it goes back to being sand, unless you add cement that is or fuse it at great temperatures.

The politics is just about as long lasting as flowers or any other sculpture made out of sand.

As always please let me know what you think (about the music).

Happy New Year Paul
I love the slowly evolving and ever-changing textures that you have created here. The organ sound some how puts me in mind of early sci fi classics like Quatermass

Hi Bryn.....
Happy New Year to you too.....

The changing/evolving themes are based, as with many of my later pieces, on a set of patterns of the ABCDBCDACDABDABCA variety. These varied sequences are then varied for each playing of ABC or D, to add a little bit of variety to the sound. Most of my multitrack Ambient and cinematic soundtrack mixes are of this type.

Quatermass is GOOD!!

Take care.

Yes... very gritty and angst ridden...
Just like the political spheres you cite. Exquisite piece of work... once again.

Hi Daniel......
This is the short version. There is a 10 minute piece that has one of the soft synth sounds changed for a choral PAD sound. I may put this up later in the week.

Thanks for your feedback. It's always good to know the thoughts of others.

Take care.

Like sand,
it is fleeting and amorphous. Dead serious stuff. The restrained percussive effects are very tastefully done. Great sounds. I think the long version is needed, especially since you cut the piece a bit abruptly here.

I like...
the sense of time passing over trouble lands.
A speeded up, omniscient and depersonalized view of ever morphing events.
Good one Paul.

I enjoy creating music using computers and 'synthesized' as opposed to 'real' instruments. I have no problem using samples/loops in my music. Everyone does this every time they work with a track. I don't fit in any box and thoroughly enjoy working ou... [see more]
