Description
A purely piano song I finally finished. (FYI, it speeds up at 0:23)

I'm not sure about the ending. It's a bit odd, and perhaps not very pleasant to listen to; I'll have to wait a few days and listen with new ears so to speak. Any feedback on the song is greatly appreciated! I don't even know what to think about it.

(I did not play this song on a real piano, so I feel like it's probably missing some needed variation in note velocity, sound, and timing. Perhaps someday, I'll fine tune it)

I like this a lot. It feels like just the beginning of something really epic, you could develop this in so many different ways. I like the rhythm and varying tempo of the piece, gives it great movement. You use the left hand well to fill in spaces and keep things moving. I can totally hear all kinds of orchestration here...lol...but it's also really cool as a solo piano piece. Too short!

Re: Kassia
Thanks! I'm really happy you liked it. The left hand always troubles me, but this is certainly my most successful attempt at doing piano so far. Funny you should mention it, because I too can here all sorts of orchestration as well :). I have so many orchestral ideas, I just need to learn how to use the tools I have to create them.

All my pieces are too short. Perhaps someday I'll have the patience to let a piece continue into something complete and full, before I end it. :D Thanks for listening!

I like it
I have downloaded it.
You have 'share a like' clicked on the creative commons thing. At some point in the future would mind if I do something with the file, re mix/extend?

Re: magnatone
Thanks so much for listening, and I'm really glad you enjoyed it. It's very encouraging for me, especially since I know I still have so much to learn. I look forward to hearing more of my music too; just looking back on my progress since last year, I can't imagine what kinds of things I'll be uploading next year. :)

I listened to some of your songs, and I really enjoyed them. The past few hours since my return to MJ has been wonderful so far, thanks in part to your incredible music!

a decision is made
it seems to be a story of assurance. it begins with indecision. during the progress, more falls into place. the decision becomes clearer. the music strengthens. the end is in sight. minor journey becomes major ending. it is well written and well played. a short story in notes. 0x0

Re: ic42
You've opened my eyes a bit to how this song, and music in general can be interpreted. Thank you for that, and your kind words.

WOW
This is similar to the style of playing I am only now coming achieve.
I really do not feel qualified to comment , it is that good and beyond me.

How does one comment on a master , I ask myself. This is going on my MP3 player fairly quickly.

Master? No, not quite yet. :) But I'm glad that you like it. I am still learning. In a way I still don't feel quite qualified to make music, as I have yet to learn any in-depth music theory (it's on my agenda).

I listened to some of you music, and I enjoyed all of it. Glad you commented, else I might have missed it. If you feel this is beyond you now, I'm sure that someday it won't be. Nothing is out of reach. :)

I really like this song. While I too can hear orchestra being added, the simplicity of this as it is, says alot to me. Tells an interesting story with lots of anticipation and feeling. Very nice - thanks for sharing it with us.

Re: gail60
Yes, simplicity is sometimes a good thing. If I do expand it, I'll certainly try and keep the aspects that make this interesting. Thank you for listening!

stunning :)
With songs this complex I always wonder how they were written. Do you just start with a couple of notes and go on from there? Or did you pick a few chords and build onto that? Anyway, the songs itself sounds great, with all the variations it really feels as if the song is telling a story. Nice work, and I hope to hear an extended version some time, perhaps with some strings added!

Re: Xept!c
Funny you should ask that. :) The very beginning actually is what I came up with on a piano. I just found those two notes to be very expressive. And when it speeds up with the right hand playing faster, and the left hand playing the descending notes; that's pretty much what I had when I transferred it to Logic. Everything else that follows it, I just composed as I went along. I still don't have a keyboard, so I'm literally composing using the midi bars; insane, I really have to fix that. Sometimes I came up with the chords first, and then found something for the right hand to do, or vice versa. One thing though, is that I had composed parts of the ending already, so at least I knew where I had to get to. I'm really glad you liked it, and it would be a neat learning experience for me to try and extend this, and possibly add strings (yes that might be good :). Thanks!

I'm a student filmmaker and I love soundtracks and trailer music. I'm not experienced at composing at all, but I am learning, and would like to know what people think about what I've made so far. I'm currently a year and a half into piano lessons, ... [see more]
