Description
it is a winter blanket of snow. it smothers life. it attempts to silence all sound. however, small ghosts of music escape. they always find each other. every winter they dance together. they are the notes of christmas past.

this was exclusive music for the epileptic gibbon podcast episode 20 for christmas time, and is now on macjams. it is hoped to bring a joy to darkness. 0x0

subtle
it is a good word. it was an attempt to mix harsh and subtle, dark and light. winter is a high contrast season. a wish for hints of spring to return. a whisper of life. it is an honour to have you listen to my music. thank you. 0x0

ghosts
ghosts and fairies. some remembering, some dreaming, some letting go. i love the snare that moves throughout carrying me along as the synth waves float by. lovely and haunting.

a beat of faeries wings
perhaps the music spoke to you. the idea of the snare was to move a listener to each new scene, then stop and reflect. it sounds as if it was a success for you. thank you for listening. it is wonderful to have you stop here. 0x0

interesting
how the slow, slightly sinister ambience was punctuated by the insistence of the snare rhythm. The snatches of carols were neat.

it is accurate
winter is sinister. it is a snare to catch those unaware. however, you are correct, this snare awakens each carol and sets it free. thank you for enjoying this offering. it is time to visit your music again. 0x0

Unique it is.
I liken this to echoes of sounds from the not too distant past. It definitely feels cold but also hints at sweet and welcoming things. Thank you, ic42.

your sounds
are perfect for your description as it gives the impression of emptiness and winter gloom, but with an awakening in the offing, stirring to bring in the new. Great soundscape, regards M

Captures the cold beauty of winter.
As I listened, I couldn't help but think of it as music to accompany a film (set in winter of course :). It creates such a powerful mood and setting. I don't usually enjoy 'ambient' music but I enjoyed this!

film loop
it is music to accompany a film. a film that projects onto a window every year. crystal actors ask to be watched. they blanket the stage outside. then it is spring. it is a happy mood to know you enjoy this music. it is film score music for the mind. 0x0

podcast surprise

Definitely
a night time track. It's dark and VERY cold where I am now, the kind of cold that feels solid on the skin. Nice meditation here, and Michael is right: those crystalline sounds are fine.

haunting, yet hopeful
Your music is always very interesting. I love the sound layers and the build up of emotions that you manage to convey with the various instruments and the timing. It is perfect when you said the small ghosts of music always find each other. We can hear them in the wind, in faraway bells, in anything that is sound. The snowfall mutes, but it cannot drown. The carol pieces you have inserted were chillingly perfect. :-)

Excellent!
The Main drone keeps the cold/winter feeling and the intrusion of the other instruments (specially the drums) turns the piece into a xmas night in a sublte nighmate dimension.

effective
it is then more effective, if the nightmare is subtle. that was the intent. there is a subtle danger in winter air. it takes the form of beauty. thank you for listening and describing your thoughts. it is helpful to create the next music. it is time to reciprocate with your music, yrp. 0x0

This felt like ....
... Christmas from the deepest darkest depths of the ocean or perhaps one was celebrating this holiday on a very far away planet ... it was chilly indeed .... enjoyable chilly ... but it still made me want to grab my warm "colourful" blanket and curl up while listening .. had to keep checking the fireplace to make sure I was in my warm house!

far
it is music of far away. far from home. it is intended to create a chill. apology for goose bump. it is good that music takes you far from home. it is a good experiment. however, now you are home again. thank you for taking a trip and listening. 0x0

BRRRR!!
You have captured the
icy,
brittle,
slippery,
sparkling,
bare,
stark contrasts of Winter
PERFECTLY
in this piece.

The combination of rich, sustained chords, with an almost oboe-like high sound along with the urgent snare-drum is very captivating, pulling the listener along on a sleigh-ride over a frozen expanse.

Then one last sliver of ice falls off the tree. WONDERFUL.

Oh by the way -- the song art is perfect.

icy joy
it is an attempt to be sparse, but maintain interest. it is also an attempt to overlay different melodies. it is a surprise that they go together well. thank you for the listen, and careful ear. there are such creative stories hidden between the notes, and you find them too. the song art is a photograph i took. it is then processed from harsh burned trees into harsh winter trees. thank you for noticing the art. 0x0
