Say a Prayer

Description
With war yet again raising it's ugly head in the East and all the suffering that's going on, I thought I'd post this song now at seems appropriate. I had intended to write a brighter song and post it before posting this one, since my last song too was a ballad, but as I said, needs must. I'd written this song a couple of months ago, but couldn't work out the backing. I decided to sing a backing chorus to 'fill it out' and it works well I think, as though the words/thoughts I'm singing are being confirmed, I hope you like it, cheers M

Lyrics
Say a Prayer

Say a prayer, (say a prayer), ask for peace (ask for peace), where there is war (where there is war), so it will cease (it will cease),
Ask for strength (ask for strength), for those in need (for those in need), to bring them love (bring them love), their heart to feed (feed their hearts),
Life can be cruel in what it brings; we know the needs of all the world,
Let us try to lead the way, and let the flag of peace unfurl.

Look into the eyes (into the eyes), of the lost (of the lost), then justify the way you live (how we live),
Send your thoughts (send your thoughts), don’t count the cost (there is no cost), search your heart (search your heart) and try to give,
Though we are conscious of their plight, our pleasures wipe it all from sight,
Focus in and think as one, let the power of love burn bright.

We are all one (we are one), under the Sun (under the Sun), and God inspired (all God inspired) every one (each and every one),
Though unique (we are unique), in every way (in every way), we all need love (we all need love) to light the way,
Gather all the love you can, reach down deep with all your might,
Send it forward, like a Beacon, shining brightly with God’s light,

Send out that prayer (send that prayer), let it fly-y-y (let it fly-y-y), throughout the world (through the world), to make it shine, make it shi-i-ine
Send out that prayer…. Let it shine……

Say A Prayer
Once again your vocals are so strong and tell this sad story so well. The backing chorus and echoing is perfect. The lyrics, well, wow. So much in four and a half minuits. I read the news and listen to the t.v. Your song made me stop and think, close my eyes and realy think about this very sad situation.
Thanks, Russ

Thanks Mowguy3
glad you approve of the way I treated this.... and of course if it makes people think about the situation, that's all the better. Though it's seems strange to me that these wars always seem to break out around our Christmas time.... not that it's not appalling at anytime. Well thanks again, regards M

you have channeled the spirit of Elvis on his inspirational/gospel tunes. i really like this song. Next time you do one like this, can I please be a part of your background choir? excellent song.

voice of calm
it is always a voice that melts butter onto toast. it is a sentiment of importance. the lyrics speak to the heart. it is a hope that the world takes heart and can find a harmony, sweet, like this song. 0x0

darn -
Someone already said Elvis. I have this habit of commenting before reading..... Oh, well, I've been caught repeating others that way, so I peeked around a bit :)

That's where this song takes me, an Elvis revival song, of sorts. The message is clear in request. I enjoyed this very much, Thanks.

Very nice
This is very nice, Maurice. The sentiment is terrific, and I think the arrangement and performance is excellent (I should say 'performances' - including the choir!). Lovely singing and nice guitar sound, too. A sad, but beautiful track. Nicely done, my friend. Peace.

This
is really nice Maurice, another great vocal you sing here and I also love your backing vocals, superb lyrics on a very sad story. I have to agree with Micael2 and Rocha, I can hear the Elvis gospel vibe to this and that's great!
Lovely song and very much enjoyed!

Sweet hope
and a very good reminder to keep praying for peace, no matter how bad it gets. Your vocals sound very good, and the backing is just right. For some reason, this sounds like a Hawaiian song. Dreamy...:-)

Glad you approve of this (I knew you would anyway LOL) of course the Hawaiian feel must be the Elvis connotations others have mentioned. Thanks again M
