Description
This song is about.....nothing.
I wrote the tune. Found a piece of paper that I'd scribbled a few words. That was the chorus. The verses were written with magnetic fridge poetry.
I could have been oblique and said you had to guess what it was about.
Anyway. Hope you like it
many thanks to Ben Boldt fro his violin sound

Lyrics
Safely scented lullaby
Happy thought the memory cup
Silent sound the comfort flood
Great word from up above
Shine bright the children’s heart
End gift to punish love
Clock chime behind the scenes
View the landscapes iron splendour

Pulled myself limb from limb
Pulled myself together again
In the night the starry sky
It’s all a picture in my eye
Pulled myself limb from limb
Pulled myself together again

Beneath the danger zone
The choice of streams unfolds
This morning breaks the wheel
Sees you through good will crying

Pulled myself limb from limb
Pulled myself together again
In the night the starry sky
It’s all a picture in my eye
Pulled myself limb from limb
Pulled myself together again

Exhibit A the human zoo
Herded in two by two
Blunt spirit in a cage
All things springs eternal

Pulled myself limb from limb
Pulled myself together again
In the night the starry sky
It’s all a picture in my eye
Pulled myself limb from limb
Pulled myself together again

Limb From Limb From Limb, etc...
I used to have 6 extra arms, but one was damaged in shipping....

Kingbee - your production skills continue to impress me from song to song to song. Your unique songwriting style continues to intrigue me as well. There are plenty of great lyrics in this one. You vocals are very expressive and they really sound awesome on this one.

Thanks for the download!

your in the 'army' now
Thanks Bob
You're all heart...and all arms.
I feel I'm getting there a bit with the production..I hope.
Thanks for your kind comments and dropping in.

Question:
Did you find it more difficult so sing 'cut n paste' lyrics than ones that you have put the story to? It's good how you fitted the words. Nice note hold in the chorus, B!

As Bob said - production skills really are there. Also - top use of the violin indeed.

All simple, but extremely effective. Love the change into the chorus. DL'd again...! A very quick 3':57" - you must have enjoyed doing it - an extra 57 secs free from The Bee, heh heh!!

Cheers,

Jim

fitting in
Hi Jim
don't think I found it hard fitting the lyrics in.
I wrote the tune and was going mad because I wanted to get some lyrics for it.
I found the chorus on a scrap of paper and then wandered down to the kitchen and just started sticking stuff together and by a piece of luck it all fitted in.
The only thing that was hard was remembering all the words because they hadn't come out of my head.
Sorry I went over the 3 minute mark. I got carries away ;-)

this song rocks
althought I could not understand all the lyrics.
Sounds like "keep moving forward" anyway, so that's cool.
Thanks for sharing.

thank you
I had trouble understanding the lyrics as well.
I printed them at the top of the page for you..but I'm quite taken with your 'keep moving forward' line.
I might have to use that in another song.

gorgeous
Love the music, instrumentation, and fun abstruse lyrics. Great singing and playing. I might back the violin off very slightly, but other than that, excellent rich mix.

Glad you liked it.
I'm still in the process of trying to understand how orchestral instruments should lie in a track.
I use strings quite a bit but haven't used a violin before.
You might be right that I should have let the violin sit a bit lower in the mix.
Thanks for your comments.

I hadn't thought of it that way but can see what you mean.
Purely unintentional.

Like it!
Great production, and I love the lyrics (sounds like they were done in the Bowie circa early 70s style).

Reminiscences of Hotel California of course in the acoustic, but a very enjoyable tune - well played and sung.

Top post!

bowie
That was in the back of my mind about Bowie. That documentary where he's just chucking bits of paper with words on the floor. I like that randomness of it.

fridge poetry
It's probably much better when you get drunk and do magnet poetry. Probably less inhibitions.

Yeah
Great tune.
Like the tone of your voice with it's slight gravel. Nice to hear someone giving it a bit extra on the vocal.

Not quite sure what the song is about, but at least it sounds very nice. Great mix with an exquisite balance of the instruments.

The song isn't about anything. I wrote it with magnetic fridge poetry.
I was so into the tune at the time I had to get some lyrics stuck on it before I lost the moment.

All it takes is conviction - right?
Excellent performance - meaning be damned. Ever listen to Oasis and try to figure out what they're songs are about. My wife considers them brilliant to be able to avoid any depth at all times. Great playing and expressive vocals. Enjoyed this.

Great Chorus
I really like your chours, especially the melody and chords. Very well recorded and instruments are well played. The title is also very good.

Not to be too picky, but you may want to watch the pitch on your singing. It seems as though you may go off in a couple of spots. Could be my ears, too, so if you like it tell me to sod off.

Very good song. Thanks for posting it.

backing vocals
Hi
You're sort of right about being a bit off.
I was trying to harmonies on the backing vocals and might have wavered a bit.
It's not your ears. It's mine ;-)

This is really good.
Good sturdy songwriting and slick performance. Production is excellent too.

Best use of fridge magnets I've ever seen in a song, I think.

impressive
Just love how you put this together, from the magnets to a masterful mix.

Really loved how you make those guitar strings just ( ( (ring!) ) ), enhanced by tasteful warm string string stirrings and your powerful passionate voice.

This was a treat for the ears.

Hey
Songs about nothing as often as cool and neat as songs written for a specific purpose.

I love the instruments/arrangement and the vocals on this are really good!

Producer??
Thanks Steve.
Kind words indeed.
I haven't got much of an idea about what I'm doing regarding production.
Just panning a bit, keep the levels ok and stick a preset on the mix down.
haven't even started to look into EQ and all that stuff.
I must be doing something right ;-)

I'm chuffed that you think I should get an agent.
Too many years playing to unappreciative audiences on the acoustic circuit makes me doubt my abilities but the kind comments of you and other macjammers really makes a difference
I'll try to not let it go to my head ;-)
