Description
During the mid 70's and early 80's I played in a puerotrican band, there I learned a new style of percussion that stayed with me to this day. As a Native American I had my own ideas of percussion. I was surprised how well they worked together. During percussion solos the players would call out to challenge each other.
This song takes me back to that time in my life. I am now teaching my grandson (14 months old) the art of latin jammin'. Enjoy!

Thank You
Thank You
As always you are ready to support all artist. I want to thank you for noticing my style, I've spent many years developing that sound. Some say it sounds like Santana, but his works lean more towards rock. I have a saying "You can make it scream, but can you make it sing", when I play to me it is as the guitar is singing lyrics. I'm starting Jake early, when he visits the first place he goes to is the piano and drum pads. You just got to luv him!

Thanks Again!

Guitar-gan sound
I really get a George Benson groove going on with this. But the sound of the guitar is so "Stacato" it's really a developed style of playing. The little mini notes in the phrasing are super and well executed. Are you playing a hollowbody style guitar?

scaustrita said 3128 days ago (January 27th, 2009)
Benson
Your are the third to make the George Benson connection. The guitar I make from a kit I bought from a popular music store in San Francisco, I went in and pick the solid body and neck. They added a brass nut, and I finished the body. To get the staccato sound I use a heavier gauge string. Thanks for your comments!

I second
Feter's comments. My sentiments exactly. Although I'll add... a bit of George Benson in this song. I really like this.

Singing
Thank You,

I have a saying "You can make it scream, but can you make it sing!"
That is my goal while playing. I use a lot of phrasing instead of long runs. That is how I get that lyrical sound. . . .

I'm A Sucker for it.
I love latin style stuff. This has a wonderful uplifting feel and groove. Percussion sounds great. As do the rest of the instruments. What is your setup for recording congas?

Congas
All the percussion is layered using by Yamaha drum pads as seen in the picture above of my grandson. It can be time consuming, however the end results are worth the effort to get that live sound. Thanks for your comments!

Very easy on the ears my friend
Thanks for posting this one Steve, it is oh so nice. At one time I used to doe a little Latin style on the guitar, but that was many years ago. Couldn't do it now if my life depended on it.

I very much like what you've done here, it sounds incredible. Thanks for the D/L, it's going on my iPod

Be well and be cool Steve,

Ed

Smooth
There is a lot of work that goes it to making that guitar sing. Keyboard, Electric Guitar, MIDI Guitar, and some wild patches I created in Garage Band.

MIDI?
Carlos Santana. Me likey!

Curious about the guitar. Is it a MIDI guitar? Guitar samples played on a keyboard? Sounds good but, just slightly un-guitarish. What the heck do I know? I can't even make a real guitar sound that good. :P

MIDI
Midi guitar triggering patches I made in Garage Band.
Real guitar in the begining, fast runs from keyboard . . .
Nevertheless it is all me!

cool and groovin'
I definitely like the rhythmic vibe here... the MIDI guitar sound bothers me a little bit, only because of the too-regular note-attack and cut-over to other notes... fun break at the end. Very nice guitar-playing over the bed.
