Description
Another apocalyptic 'end-of-the-world as we know it' type song. This one's about the rise of the antichrist. It's not about a real person, but a fictional charismatic type world leader with an evil agenda. Really though, I think this song is about me subconsciously singing about my fear of change hehe.
The fade out's kind of anticlimactic but the plan is that another song will start as this one fades out. That song will probably be 'Our End'. If you wanna hear how they'll sound together try the long crossfade feature in iTunes.
I won't deny the Radiohead/Muse influence in this one, both lyrically and musically. I've been listening to 'Hail to the Thief' and 'Black Holes and Revelations' a lot recently.

I'm pretty stoked about this song, but as always, production nits and crits are very welcome.

Lyrics
I CAN SEE THROUGH YOUR EYES
I WON'T BELIEVE YOUR LIES
THIS TIME

THEY WILL ALL LIFT YOU UP
THEY WILL DRINK FROM YOUR CUP
BLOOD WINE

THEY SAY YOU WILL LEAD THEM ALL
GATHER THEM UP TO FALL
IN LINE

BUT I WILL NOT PLAY THE FOOL
I'LL NEVER SEE YOU AS
DEVINE

YOU'RE INCORRUPTIBLE
BUT YOU'LL CORRUPT US ALL
WITH SIGNS

THERE'S POWER IN POLITICS
LINE UP TO GET YOUR FIXX
RECLINE

THE DEVIL IN DETAILS
SECONDHAND PEACE FOR SALE
CHEAP BUY

BUT PUT YOUR MONEY AWAY
I WILL REFUSE TO PAY
FOR CRIME

I'M NOT AFRAID
WON'T LET THEM TAKE ME
TAKE ME AWAY
PLEASE COME AND SAVE ME

I WILL NOT FOLLOW

Well I’ll be damned !
Great song, my ears cannot find any hint of a nit or crit in the production. I especially love the transitions, and the drumming.

thanks very much
for stopping by. the drums are just GB08 dance club loops or something but I thought they worked well. I'll probably replace them with real drums though at some point. thanks again

Alright - It's official -
I can't keep up. I know I'm gonna love this when I get a chance to listen - and I'll say something appropriate then. Also, could you and LunaTrick please try to alternate your releases?

I need to look into that, if not I will write my next song around it. I hear the hail to the thief influence you sound allot like him in this. Excellent tune downloaded for sure!

LOVE
the timing you're grooving to in the first and 3rd thirds of the song. Lyrics and vocal performance are quite becoming of each other.
The beep beep beep is so cool. This is another excellent song man.

i stumbled onto that pattern and really got into it. I thought it would be tough finding drums to match but they work ok. the beep beeps are from an old school answering machine. i was going to sync them to the beat but they seem to sound better more random like this. thanks for listening rain

Cool song Ridd
Good hearing you using a more acoustic approach. I really like this. If I were after a nit, I'd probably suggest that the production could do with a little more high end signal, just to spice it up a bit. VERY minor thing though. It really sounds excellent as it is.

i definitely resisted the urge to bring in the distortion at the end. It sounds a lot tighter and stronger like this. really glad you like it. I totally agree on the treble boost. i was thinking the exact same thing shortly after posting. thanks for the feedback

hmmm. dude. life is good :) you don't own a greenhouse do you? If so, stay out of it. lol seriously this is Dolorean territory (violence in the snowy fields is one of my favorite songs)...and, if Radiohead can write a pretty song about a disease that deforms rabbits then i guess you can write one about the anti-christ. Really like the end of this with the "i will not follow" refrain and the samples. very cool.

Flamenco Apocalypse
The production on this is way beyond awesome - space for everything. Great chord changes on this too. I can hear a bit of Thom in the vox, but not as whiny as he can get.

A fantastic piece of work!

thanks a bunch, steve. the changes are a little more complex then my usual fare, though still relatively simple. i'm trying to challenge myself a little more. plus I'm bigtime immersed into the world of The Beatles for the first time, and they're totally inspiring everything musical in me right now. thanks for the feedback

really a song that makes one stop and listen. Lyrics deliver via a solid vocal. Great music/soundspace. You tell a story that points to The Story. Well done. And deep bows from me.

cool
Great song, I like the chromatic elements in the melody line and the slight time signature change at the end of each stanza (I think it that's what it is) which are slightly reminiscent of Syd Barrett.
Singing is perfect.

Good song
I would just like to remark on the low frequencies. When everything is playing I'm bothered by a lot of rumble, which then turns out to come from a bass drum that has a terribly resonant boom. I would cut back on that a bit. Your bass sound is kinda vague, without much attach.

Maybe it's a matter of my speakers being of a very different type from yours.

rsorensen said 298 days ago (January 29th, 2009)
bass
thanks vic. Always appreciate your honest feedback on my stuff. Not sure about the rumbling low end? I've tried it on a few systems now and it doesnt bother me. Haven't tried it in the car yet though and for me that's the real test. I do want to notch up the treble a little... Anyway maybe I'll listen a little closer on some other people's stereos as well and see if I can hear what you mean.

VicDiesel said 298 days ago (January 29th, 2009)
Rumble
Not so much a matter of too much bass, as that it's unclear. That bass drum rings very long, making the bass indistinct. I like some detail down there.

I'll take another listen with fresh ears later.

rsorensen said 298 days ago (January 29th, 2009)
ahhh
I hear you now. You know, I doubled up that drum track with a camel crushed version to try and give it a little more edge. You're probably hearing the distortion of that track. Perhaps the bass might sound a little tighter and clearer if I eased off or eliminated the extra drum track. I'll give it a try, thanks

Really interesting progression
- the chords are not that unusual - but the way you sing against them makes more of it. I was fully expecting a huge blast of rock at the end - and like what you went with more. Very cool track.

yeah theyre nothing special, but the way thay're arranged might be a little different, and yes the way the vocals work with them too. I could have done the huge blast at the end but I thought it might be too predictable. thanks for the feedback, glad you dig it

nit-less
Rid! When I can't find a nit, I think I drank some Kool-Aid or something. Very cool track. O.K. just one: I would add just a little teensy bit of reverb on the main vocal in the main section at the beginning. The sonic disparity between the vox and the guitar makes them seem disjoined from each other. Other than that super small idea, I am really stoked about this song as well. Goin' on the iPod, too.
