Description
This is sort of a mix-up, I guess. I took some of the backing tracks for a song I've done with ledebutant, "In the Garden" . I've been working on a new version but I wanted to play something live. I decided to use some of my favorite stuff from the background, the stuff that gets lost. So I stripped away a lot of the more identifiable stuff like the bass and lead vocals and drums, and then reversed a couple of the remaining background vocal tracks and applied a dronemaker effect. Then I sat down with my banjo and a microphone and this ambient thing came out. I'm rather pleased with the result.
I sort of did this quickly...but not really. I hope it's okay.

funny
the song art is sort of a joke too, since the picture is one I recently took while taking a long walk after another one of our many snowstorms here. It hasn't been gardening weather for a while And speaking of that walk, it ended up being a very long walk and in the end it seemed like forever I was trying to get home and it was quite dark by the time I made it. Maybe this should have been on the Cold Mountain soundtrack instead of the more faithfully and reverentially played old-time mountain music they ended up with.

ahh yes!
I forgot to mention that Lisa's background vocals are indeed in there. Though they are reversed, frequently they are just doing some sort of ululation so they don't sound too funny backwards. I wanted to play the banjo delicately as that's my favorite style for the banjo and one that doesn't get really associated with banjo.

ethereal echoes
Really nice 'mix-up'... I love the surreal mood and the textures that you've blended in this. The nature sounds are especially a nice, grounding touch.
Downloaded to be enjoyed again and again :)

Thank you!

Beautiful
I like your ambient pieces.

And I agree about the banjo. It has a beautiful resonant quality, but it has a bit of a reputation because of "dueling banjos" and what-not.

Your banjo playing always appeals to me, though.
