All My Dreams (remix)

Description
Well, my education as a remixer/producer/whatever continues with the release of my fifth effort of the new year, All My Dreams, a kind of autobiographical tone-poem arranged from "loops only".

On this piece I allowed myself a little more latitude than previous remixes in terms of making wholesale changes to the original version. I actually edited this one down by 60-odd seconds and reversed the order of two sections. I hope you like it. The key is F#minor at 90 bpm, and the orchestration is drum kit, piano, acoustic guitar, Nakamal Bass, congas and shakers.

Thank you Feter
for your always positive and friendly comments. I did work hard on the remix of this piece so I'm happy that you enjoyed it. The only panning however, is of the tomtoms which move from one side to the other during their short appearances.
Cheers.

Loops...
...these you've chosen very well indeed. It takes a good ear and imagination to hear how all of these diverse sounds will fit together, and you do that beautifully. ... My only constructive thought (maybe) has to do with the notion of possibly spinning out a melody above all of this ingenious looping. If you got a tune going, then the loops would have a "direction" or a goal. Don't mean to be critical, but it just seems like you're ready to take the next step...but you haven't done it yet.
Peace.
Paul

I can see I'm going to have to work
even harder Paul. I thought I might have something here with the melodic theme introduced by the piano, repeated by the bass, and then picked up again (after the solo) by the piano and guitar duet, before fading out after the re-introduction of that bass. In fact, the "melody" has been reverberating between my ears for about two weeks straight. Oh well.
Thanks for the visit, the listen and the comment.
Cheers.

I'm intrigued...
Such a soft, yet powerful theme. All My Dreams strikes me as a climactic title. I can sense this song playing during a surreal confrontation between two determined forces, fighting for their dreams. What was your image in the "autobiographical tone-poem?"

Gotta love the piano note getting carried into synth. Very clever. And it worked. The song hold itself together. It takes some strange turns, but I don't forget where it started.

Whoa! Great comment...
It sounds as though you really listened to this piece (as well as read the text description).

There was definitely some confrontation going on during the remix and, while I didn't have a specific image in mind, I'm glad you picked up on something. Your own work has significant intellectual underpinnings which mine, I fear, lacks. Nonetheless, if we both get an emotional charge from it ...

Thanks for the visit and the encouragement. Cheers.

I like
the way this is constructed Richard. You've a good feel for putting these loops together in a tasteful and interesting way. This holds up very well. I'm amazed - really don't how someone does such a good job with them. Well done.
Best,
Charlie

I'm glad you like
Thanks, Charlie, for the kind words. As for your amazement: what can I say? I don't think I'm special, or doing anything special: I just use the loops I have and play with them until the combination sounds good. Simple, no?
Actually, I am very gratified that the response to my "creative" efforts has been so positive. My whole intention in joining MJ was to find out if the tunes sounded as good to other people as they do to me or am I just like a proud parent who is too close for proper perspective?
In any case, I am happy you like this one and that you took the time to comment.
Cheers

Hi there, and welcome. I have long been a lover of music but, other than an elementary school introduction to playing the violin, I have no music training. I taught myself to play guitar (by ear) years ago but reached that point where I knew that ... [see more]
