Description
Here is a 3 song set that is a direct result of my doing 3 things.

Buying my first "Real" Apple computer, an old PowerMac G4. That got me playing music again after 14 year because I wanted to try out recording music on the computer.
Buying a Tascam FW1804 interface and Cubase SE-3. That allowed me to learn about recording new music again, but this time in the digital domain.
And finally Joining MacJams. The people I've met here, have helped to sustained me as I was getting back to writing and recording new music again after so many years.

So these Reunion Festival songs are my way of remembering and acknowledging how and why I came to this wonderful place and how that decision healed my musical soul. It is through all of you, and your kindness, acceptance, and encouragement of me as a person and a musician that these songs are not only possible, but in fact a reality.

I thank you all more that you will ever know for that, you have deeply touched my spirit.

And now, on with the show

This is a 3 song set that shows what I consider milestones in my musical growth during the first year I was here on MacJams. Getting into the spirit of the Reunion, I've made this a live performance on the stage here at the Festival.

SONG 1
The first song in the set was recorded in 1990. It's called "Fallen Angel"
It was originally recorded on an analog tape deck. I remastered it on the Mac and posted it here for the first time in 2007. This was the first time I posted a song where I felt I got fairly good results with my new equipment and software.

SONG 2
The second song in the set is called, "What do you know about love"
This is the first of my old songs I complete remade after I joined MacJams. It is an entirely new version and totally different than the original version, which was a Waltz.

SONG 3
The third song in the set is called, "Funky world of Da Funk"
This is the first new song of any kind I'd done in 14 years, and is a direct result of getting GarageBand, the Mac, and joining MacJams.

Listening to all of you, and to your encouragement, gave me the will and freedom to go back to my musical roots of Rock, Funk, and the Blues and replay those songs that were in my head back so many years ago. I was also encouraged to experiment, and on this song I did just that.

Again I thank all of you for listening. I hope you enjoy this Reunion set and all the other fine music you'll hear by the wonderful artists and entertainers here on MacJams and at the MacJams Reunion Festival.

Be well and be cool, peace

you
what an idea, for a stage set! (taking notes on how to be clever). I was trying to come up with one song by deadline...

Spank Me Naked!

Man, you rock...

. - Harold
sloparts said 3040 days ago (January 31st, 2009)
Thanks Harold
There were some big changes in how i did music after I joined MJ. These three from 2007 show the progress I made in that first year as I learned more about the digital music domain. I figured this would be an entertaining way to highlight those changes.

Thanks for listening my friend and the kind words, they are appreciated. As for the Spanking part, I'm afraid I'll have to leave that to someone else. LOL ;-)

Be well and be cool,

Thanks Feter
I couldn't find one song that said what I wanted to say to all the other folks here on MacJams, so I didn't stop at one. That first year was a big year for me musically as you know and I think these 3 songs reflect that.

Glad you stopped in and had a listen my friend and enjoyed the reprise of these songs. Thanks again for your support and the kind words Feter.

I decided to get in the spirit of this festival and one way to do that was get up on stage and go for it. What a hoot it is to hear this thing after I finished it, makes me want to go back to playing for a living.

Glad you enjoyed the show my friend and I appreciate the kind words on it. Thanks for coming to the festival this year my friend.

Give me your address and I'll send you a new lighter man.

I threw that little bit in at the end as an after thought. Worked out good and gave me time to get off the stage while the crowd was still partying.

Thanks again for the kind words John. Glad you stopped to listen and enjoyed the show.

Hey there Vic
I figured I had to give the folks their monies worth, don't ya know. Besides it's always more fun to do 3 songs at a gig like this than it is to do only 1.

Thanks for listening my friend and for the kind words. enjoy the rest of the show from that easy chair, I'll send you over the cold beverage of your choice.

Be well and be cool, Vic

Fabulous!
Total wall of sound in Fallen Angel... Funny... my kids band, The Kodans have a song called "Fallen Angel". Little different subject matter but well they are only 12... Hee hee.

Like Harold... I was hoping to get "one" song for the festival but then I got sick with the flu... You crank out three like they are no big deal... wow...

I really wonder is there anything you cannot play? This is spectacular!

Thanks Mark
Oh yeah, there's a lot of stuff I never attempt because I already know what the results would be. But since music is fun I try stuff sometimes just to see where it'll end up.

I'm sure as time goes by :Fallen Angel " will get a more expanded understanding in you house, but let's hope not any time soon.

Have you ever recorded The Kodans, and if so why not post something for them. You'd be amazed at the ego boost it would give them reading about there song and MJ'ers reaction to it.

Thanks for listening Mark and the kind words. These were songs I did in 07 so I just remastered them for this gig and compiled them into a set. I took the easy way out instead of trying to write a new song for the Festival.

Take care, be well and be cool my friend,

Ed

Brilliant!
This is really fun Ed! Very well conceived and put together. It's really quite astonishing how much atmosphere you've conjured up ... the sense of the festival stage is quite tangible. I'm getting drawn into a fantasy world listening to this.

Thanks for going the extra mile on this and making it such an event in itself.

Thanks for listening to this one too Jack. Glad you enjoyed the show and I appreciate the comment my friend.

The finale was just something I threw in there as an after thought. But in a real festival or concert, that's the kind of thing we did at the end of our show, so why not.

Glad you enjoyed the show Bob. It was a lot of fun putting this together as a special treat (I hope) for all who come to the 2007 Reunion.

Take care Bob and enjoy the rest of the festival.

Brilliant
Brilliant idea to do this the way you did. Love the stage set idea. And excellent way to showcase the changes in your recording over the time here. Fallen Angel has a lovely down and dirty feel; great funky, bluesy guitar, and great vocal. The acoustic on What do you know about love is lovely, and what a great contrast with the first song. have I mentioned your great range before? I believe I might have! Lovely vocal on this as well. Then the funk kicks in! Awesome. YOu really have a gift, my friend, and I'm so glad you share it with us here. Honestly, I fell like I'm at a gig! Nicely done, man. Kudos, brother. Peace.

Hello Scott
I've always thought that music is about two thing. Communicating and having fun. It's better for everyone if you do both at the same time I figure.

I hope things are settling down for you and your family. nuf said

That's a really nice comment you left me and I really do appreciate it my friend. But there is one song posted by Mystical on the 2004 stage that make this look like what it is, and overage rocker hanging on by his fingernails.

Funny you should say that about the headliner. I had a guy in an Automotive body shop tell me he thought I'd make a good headliner too. I'm not sure he had the same thing in mind that you did, but it's the thought that counts, huh?

Thanks again for listening Char. Glad you enjoyed the show and left such a kind comment for me. It is appreciated.

You like that crowd man.
I sent over to the rest home and got all my friends to show up for the show. What I didn't know was they called all their friends, (that were still alive), and we had a heck of a good time.

As a matter of fact, the band that played just before us, the "Broken Walker" band, they live at the rest home with us.

Thanks for the listen Jim, glad you enjoyed the show and the crowd of old Far_s that came to see it. Thanks for the kind words my friend.

I know what you mean by not keeping up. I've had that problem lately my self. It's hard to make the time some days to even work on new music, much less check on all my friends new songs. I do get emails on the new songs from all of you, but even then it's hard to get it all done.

We've got a storm coming through so I need to get this thing shut down now.

Thanks for the kind words Dick and the visit. Always a pleasure to hear from you.
