Silent No More (MJRF)

Get Flash to see this player.

Description
Well, since I'm a re-registration from 2008, I decided that this re-mix would be a perfect entry for the (MJRF). I wrote it back in December 20008, but had it lying around until Jan 2009, when I finally was able to put on the solo's I wanted after a few weeks of practicing new techniques.

Special thanks to everyone who helped with their comments about the mix on my previous version. It truly helped tremendously.

Thanks again and I hope you enjoy the tune.

Chris

Whoa...
I think that is a bit too much on the treble and the overdrive side. The right channel especially sounds like it clips...

The play is great though... what a guitar player...!

PickQuickRecords said 297 days ago (February 2nd, 2009)
Thanks.
I was going over that in the mix and it's just the guitar solo's tone. I used a neck position single coil in a Srat, so it gave it a "brittle" tone. I have it panned slightly to the right, so sometimes it sounds like it clips in the right speaker, but it's really the solo sound. When the solo is removed from the mix. It's no longer present. I checked the solo tracks and I couldn't find any clipping.
So I'm sure that's what it is. Weird.

Thanks again for the comment. I appreciate it.

Tough one
This is a tough one to catch, but it is well worth it. The mix sounds good to me. I like soaring guitars! Hope you leave it up for a while so I can give it a closer listen later.

Thanks

I worked on the mix quite a bit for the past few days to remove the distortion and I remembered about (MJRF), so I figured it would be perfect since I'm a re-registration of 08.

I hope thats not your left hand! lol

Yes, I had to start from the bottom up on the mix, pull some bass frequencies from the rhythm guitars, and few other things, but it really helped clean up the overall level.

Thanks again for the return listen.

I Can Not Comment.....
This song just captures my imagination...It does not allow me to compose words as I am fixated on the dexterity of the fingers across the fretboard. Do you have any old practicing techniques lying around so I can get my fingers in shape? Sweepingly Awesome. I love this!!!

I'm happy you like it so much. I have some stuff I may be able to scan for ya. Most of the stuff I have is from old "Guitar, for the Practicing Musician" mags. I'll see what I can get together and send you a note.

Actually, I bought the Yngwie Malmsteen instructional DVD. It's from "Alfred Publishing Co, Inc.", and that's what I've recently been practicing. Well worth the money.

Thanks again for the listen and comment. I appreciate it.

Shredder.
Wow! Nice playing. I can only dream of playing like that...
I've heard lots technically brilliant guitarists who like to shred it up. More often than not it's done for showing off's sake and while technically brilliant the music doesnt really capture the imagination and is usually bland.
Your tune however has some emotion to it and is impressive both in ability and feeling. Solid backing also.
Great work!!

Thank You Ted.
I appreciate your in depth comment. It was fun to write this tune because I was pretty pumped about the lessons I was practicing and really wanted to "try" them out for lack of a better term. So any hurdles I experienced were quickly overcome with the excitement of exploring a different approach. Personally, I was surprised with the results. Anyway, I'm glad you took the time to listen and comment, again I appreciate it.

Thank you

Yes, when I first started practicing these riffs, man... were my fingers on fire for a couple days (lol). Actually, I had to give myself a break to let them quit stinging.

Now that I'm practicing on a regular basis again, I moved past the blistering stage FINALLY. Yay!

Thanks again for listening and leaving a comment. I'm happy you enjoyed the tune.

I'm happy you dig this, but I'm sure if you put in the practice, you could play like this eventually also. The funny thing is that when I first started playing solos, I was terrible. I would end up pissing my cat off and he would attack the front of my amp! lol

I truly believe that with enough practice, anybody can achieve any level of playing that they desire. If you want some of these riff's in tab, send me a note with your e-mail and I'll get them to you.

Thanks again for stopping by and listening. I appreciate it.

Awesome, Chris...Paganini of the electric world...and that's a very sweet looking sunburst on your picture, there.

You hit it right on the head! Those arpeggios are REALLY close to a run in one of his tunes. I can't think of which song, but they are almost identical. I love listening to his violin and guitar music, so it was bound to happen sooner or later! lol.

Ya, that's a Mexican Strat I picked up in 95 or 96, it's design was a bit smaller than the ones they have today, but it's "broke in" so it's very comfortable to play.

Thanks again for the listen and comment Bob, I appreciate it.

That's being a little to nice Norman, but thanks, I'll take it. lol

I've just been trying to improve my playing with a Malmsteen DVD lesson, if anything I gotta give it props for showing me the mechanics of a lot of runs you hear in the tune, but the arpeggios are Paganini in structure.

Thanks again for the killer compliment Norman. You ALMOST convinced me! lol

lol!
Ya, them kicks crack me up! lol. That's too bad you couldn't get anything out of it. It's quite hard to duplicate some of his stuff because he plays everything a little different when he plays fast versus slow. I found he adds more "pick hits" to most of his runs when he plays them fast. Also try his string sizes and picks, it makes it MUCH easier. They are .008 .011 .014 .022 .032 .046, I believe. You can also search it. Also his picks are the Dunlop "500" series, 1.5mm. They are purple.

Glad to see you back around also. I'll have to get to your profile and see what you've been up to. Thanks again for the listen. I appreciate it and I hope that little info helped.
