Description
Recorded on a pinhole mic in front of my 'basketball' iMac, this is still (to my own thinking) one of my more unusual postings. I still had a somewhat predictable voice back in 2005, and a room to record in, as well as some time to myself. I really enjoyed the whole process of recording, effecting, cutting, rearranging and pasting. As a matter of fact, maybe I'll try a bit of this kind of recording process again, with some of my new 'toys'.

Cool!
I was expecting some dance drums to start. I think this would make a cool open collab also.

1st post you said?

Impressive.

I'd be remiss
to let you think this happened the first time I opened GarageBand. I'd posted several midi and loop based pieces at icomp precious to this, as well as some 'folky' guitar and voice pieces here at macJams. This is still, though, one of my faves.

Excellent
I just don't have an ambient mind... I love it but I can't imagine creating such intricate sound beds... Guess I'm just an old guitar, bass and drums kind of guy... Too old to learn something new...

Glad you love it. This sound bed kind of built itself with lots of 'one move at a time' experiments. I'm not sure I could duplicate it myself. Thanks for the listen and comments.

I don't 'do' lots of ambient
because it always moved too slowly for my taste. I'm getting more into it as I understand it more. Thanks for listening.

Like drifting through the cosmos
Beautiful ethereal voice, floating through the dark but comfortable oceans of space. I really like the way the subtle percussion rises under the voice, surfaces and dips back under again. Very evocative, and quite an achievement to get so much compelling atmosphere from these gentle sounds.

Atmosphere!
That's what you've created here, and it feels real. The vocal ambiance is at times piercing, but then it fades into lighter shades...I wonder what a soundbed of strings would do to this composition? It somehow is ringing in my head. ... Very unusual vis a vis other things of yours I've heard in the past 2 years. Your homespun flutes would be cool additions, too. All: unusual and delightful.
Peace.
Paul

A beauty
Very pretty, old school ambient. And I agree, all that post-production stuff is a hell of a lot of fun.
I, too, would like to hear some more of these from you.

I listen to the voices,
and 8 out of 10 times they say "Don't shoot". I always want to ask them "Why" but I'm to frightened to ask.

Beautifully done Kristyjo, very ethereal and relaxing to me. Nice job my friend.

Just you and your creativity...
I can see why recording this and then manipulating your voice was an enjoyable exercise. This is a very successful piece. Very sweet listen, very soothing, very ethereal, as was your apparent intention. Beautifully done, Kristine.

Big fan of ambient, and this hits the spot. Has that wonderful ethereal, magical feeling to it without disappearing into the ether! The voices are superb - truly haunting. This is excellent. DL'ed and added to one of my ambient playlists. Nicely done. Peace.

i love
the water sounds. this is fabulous...creative and soothing, with the wonderful soft movement of ambient music. the voices moving in and out was paced and faded and panned perfectly. this is a very impressive piece of vocal work and computer production. and i especially love that there are no words, just sounds. beautiful. thank you.
