Description
This is my new rendition of the first song I uploaded to MacJams back in the Summer of 2007. I had just discovered Garageband and was looking around the net for some free loops when I came across a LIOLI contest and was intrigued. I didn't enter, instead, I uploaded C'mon Get Ready and it has been a creative lovefest ever since.

I want you MacJammers to know just how much I appreciate all of you. You guys have really brought stuff out me (musically) I didn't know I had and sure appreciate the comments and challenges all you engage me in. I really mean it. I listen to as much of your music as my schedule will allow and it moves me and motivates me....especially knowing you guys are messing around with a puter at home just like me.

I hope this MJRF contribution displays my appreciation of you all and I will continue to play more music and upload and listen no matter what the demands of my schedule may be. My schedule may slow me down at times, but I ain't quitting MacJams no time soon.....I will still be here when that little number to the right of my name says 118! That's a promise. Thanks MacJams!! I love this place!!

Lyrics
C’mon Get Ready – psexnyc ©

Come on get ready for the change that’s coming.
Get your stuff together and prepare your mind.
You don't have to worry about the pain you're holding.
It will come together and you'll be just fine.

If you think you're not ready, then you are mistaken.
It's okay to feel a little tension and fear.
If you let go of what you've been led to believe in.
Inside of you is Him and your Freedom.

Come on Be strong
Hold on There's nothing wrong
All paths lead to the same place.
Stand up Stand proud
And scream your truth out loud
Let the change come through you.

Come on get ready for the change that's coming.
Get your stuff together and prepare your mind.
You don't have to worry about the pain you're holding.
It will come together and you'll be just fine.

It’s up to me and
It’s up to you
We can come together to do what we do

It’s up to you and
It’s up to we
We can work together and we’ll be just fine.

NOW YOU'RE UP PHIL
great chops.... your sound scape is wide and complex... I'm diggin' all of your interweaveing parts... way to break it down then come back around... and a few people made the choice to do the live vibe recording... i wish I'd made that choice... it was really right for the event...

Your mix sounds fine to me... a little sweat did the trick Phil

Hey I think I'm first

unless Feter gets here before i press the post button

Love it
You've got a great sounding voice. Sweet guitar tones too. I really like the drum groove combined with the acoustic guitar. It's a cool combination of genres. BTW killer looking guitar from your profile pic.

Thanks Kicbal
That guitar in the profile pic is a Hamer Explorer I rescued from a guitar shop. It was just standing on the floor, propped up against the wall. They didn't even put it on a stand. It had nicks and dings and a $250 price tag. I couldn't let that get away and my wife said yes when I asked if I could have it.

I don't play it much. I noticed there was a short in it. When I opened it up I saw some disconnected wires. As soon as we get some decent weather over here on a Saturday, I am going to take it to the Guitar Center and have the tech guy hook it up.

Thanks McBoy!
This song started out a long time ago as three chords I used to noodle around on my acoustic....just as you say, "makes your troubles go away"....exactly!! Those 3 chords...G to a D to a C and back to a G...always felt happy to me. Anyway, Thanks for the comment!

Mixing my music has been the bane of my existence in Garageband. But I have been getting great tips and advice with each song I post. But this one....it took me a week and a half to mix this to a point where I was ready to upload. I like how it turned out too. Thanx!

great song here
Love the feel of this... it has an open air love-in rock fest' sort of feel. The way you've done the instructional voice over really adds to it; excellent guitar parts, great stuff, cheers M

Great festival atmosphere you've got going here! Lovely tune and the vocal harmonies are the icing on the cake. Achingly sweet guitar work too. Enjoyed.

Looking at the pics Neil used for the Festival, I knew I had to make it sound like the song was being performed in a live outdoor venue. If Neil had used a pic of a concert happening in a pub....well....I might have done something different.

Would You Believe...
...that for the longest time I had no idea that there was a Sub Bass sound going on with this song? I knew there was a bassy sounding 808 drum sound, but that sub thing totally was not picked up by my ears. I use some cheap headphones from the neighborhood Bodega I got for 5 bux to monitor my sound and they don't do sub bass at all. My eMac's built in speakers don't do sub bass either. I was pleasantly surprised when I finally burned the original "Cmon Get Ready" to a CD and played in my work car's stereo. Unintentional, but I kept it! Glad you like it too!!

Oh Yeah Phil, this is a keeper
Great feel to this and I like where the lyrics go. Heavy rhythm section and the vox is great. And the Strat sound super cool man.

Way to go Phil, you got a winner here.

K.I.S.S.
You know what? Coming up with the lyrics was pretty simple. I remember that they just "came to me". I really did not put any effort at all in crafting the words to this. They just occurred. As I was putting this version together, I "heard" in my imagination that 'It's up to me, it's up to you...." part. Once again, no effort. A very simple process. So, I guess you are right!! Gotta K.I.S.S.

Thanks for the listen and the comments!

Live
Great live feel to this one. Terrific vocal performance; you really deliver this with lots of energy and attitude, as well as some very tasty harmonies! The guitar sounds good, and the drums propel the track along nicely. Nice sound, and lovely groove. Very cool. Nicely done. Peace.

I smiled the second I heard this
This is simple in theory but here's actually a lot going on here. I really like the vocals and of course your guitar playing. There are even hand claps I can believe in. And I love your mix. If you're doing this in GarageBand we need to talk.

I'm glad this tune made you smile, in turn, your smile made me smile too, so thanks! And yes, I recorded and mixed this song entirely in GB3, though the final mix is rather low. I'm still learning how to tweak GB. And now, since it has been several months since I last recorded anything, I will still be getting over a learning curve the next time I sit at my mac and attempt to record something new.

I love all
the different elements. You do make me smile. I was rocking to it and almost felt like I was up front and center in front of stage, and I was flirting a bit with the guy at the mic. Makes you want to dance. Sweet playing. Even sweeter singing. I enjoyed this a bunch. Thanks.

This is a jam bro. Love the bass line and the guitar work. Great vocals and love the moch live opening. I did a whole album that I made sound live. The audience has a big coliseum sound. I decided to scrap it and just post the songs by themselves. I like this a lot. It's a great car song for cruisen'. Faved it and DL'ed

The King has spoken and even downloaded my tune!! I am honored!! I was thinking about re-posting this song minus the "live sounding" stuff and of course, boost the master volume a little bit too. Hmm still thinking about it!!

So far, 2009 has been a rough year for me.....recording wise. I've been having issues with my 8-year old eMac. It seems that the simple act of plugging my guitar into GarageBand causes the computer much stress, resulting in it not recording a single ... [see more]
