Description
When I discovered MacJams I was so blown away by the variety of personalities and sounds. I truly felt as if I had discovered an emerald city of sorts. Like I had just arrived at the top of a ridge and looked down at that dazzling city that sat in the valley below. The big doors were opened so I walked in and I was greeted by friendly munchkins. My life has never been the same.

I love macjams and I love being a part of this fantastic community. I'm not ashamed to say that some of my current best friends have faces I've never seen, but I sure value their friendships as if they were real people. Actual people, not just characters from some bizarre book or ax murderers pretending to be great song writers (how many of you had to answer the "ax murderer" question to your spouse?).

Back when I first got my hands on GarageBand, I was writing mostly instrumental tunes only because I didn't have a microphone that I could connect to my computer. I thought it was a toy, until realized that it could do anything!! Then I hooked up my old Tascam 4 Track and ran my mic through the little Audio In port and now you have to hear me sing! Well, remaining true to my very first song that I posted on MacJams back in 1986, I'm not singing. I found the dusty old GB1 file and stripped all of the audio loops and reassigned new software instrument sounds, experimenting like I do now.

I didn't have too much time to work on this, so if you want to 1 Bomb me, I understand.

Electro-boy
This defines the genre.
Love that main synth.
This cant really be bombed as it's such a great example of electro.
I feel theres more going on here than one listen will pick up. Nice little touches and sounds going on.
Good stuff.
I have a secret love of this stuff!

Hey Ted, admitting it is the first step!

You can rest assured your secret is safe amongst your friends here who suffer the same affliction.

'Until I realized that it
could do anything'. Not without you it couldn't. You are definitely one of the very special people here that make MJ's so great. I remember how welcoming you were to me, it was really appreciated.
I like this track but miss your always witty and catchy lyrics.
Cheers
Len

Until I Realized That It Could Do Anything!
Aww, Len, thanks so much for such kindness. We've been pals for a long time now, haven't we? I can't imagine this place without you and the back side of your rock!

The next version of this tune will have some catchy lyrics. These things take more time than I have at the moment.

Thanks Len, you're a dear friend to me.

ax murderer
Melodic stuff. Reminded me of The Blood Hound Gang a bit. I could hear that singer putting some cool lines over this. Crisp production. My wife always refers to guys here as my "friends". As she does that little annoying thing with her fingers.

When you think about it, it's not really very smart to make fun of "ax murderers" is it?

Sounds like something
an ax murderer would come up with.
Seriously though - really cool synth sounds and big movement. You were all over this style from the gitgo. I like the distortion on one of the synth leads. Nice touch.

Distorted Synths, Shiny Ax
I had fun tweaky the instrument sounds on this otherwise poppy flavor. I was imagining a group of robot chicks standing out in my front yard and me turning the sprinklers on. Haven't you always wanted to do that?

LOL!

as if we were real people
i just found out what a "1-bomb" is yesterday so i don't feel that i've yet earned the right to use it. funniest thing ever how the wives refer to people on this site. Lavalamp's QUOTE friends QUOTE LOL!!

anyway this tune is cool dude as are you. and i agree with len, MJ and 5xArms is a package deal.

...every time i hear one of your tunes i want to get me some big new wave hair and a trench coat and some eye makeup and a Korg...

Actual People
Tempie,

you're way more new wave than I am, even disguised as a red neck with a "wife" that no one here has ever seen in person.

I think it would be very punk rock to grow a nice 80's mullet and maybe a mustache and no sideburns (eyeliner optional). Definitely need the trench coat and the Korg if you want people to take you serious.

"ax murderer" question

been axed that and similar - Now it's "that's all you do" no matter how I limit my time here. The headphones really get a rise...

1986 was a great year for MacJams - I'm sure you didn't have many fans back then until we all accidentally stumbled on your page - you're so quiet, that way...

:-|

As I listen, I can't help but think how great the melody line is; it would make a great rock song, too. Hmm...

If that's your "real name", I'd love to hear this as a rock song. If you know any other ax murderers that feel the same, you should put something together!

Way to goose out those great electronica tones. The groove makes me want to dance in embarassing fashion around the office.

I'll 1-bomb it
once it got the lyrics.

(I admit I have once tried to write lyrics to this one but to no avail).
five_extra_arms said 289 days ago (February 10th, 2009)
1 Bomb it
I wish someone would do something. I did write some lyrics for this before it was a GB song. I tried to record the tune from memory using my brand new Oxygen 8 keyboard and when I was done recording the first few layers of the song, I realized it was NOT the song and I couldn't make the lyrics work. I was finally able to use some of the lyrics in Maid Of Metal (She has a digital stare and virtual black hair - was intended for this tune).

And cj - I find it impossible to believe that you couldn't fit lyrics to this. Now I'm going back through all of your songgz and 1 bombing them.

Remember when my signature was "Now Let's Go Bomb The Monggz!"??

gary?
or that guy from Icehouse? either one must have been in the can and missed the vocal recording session.

1986? I didn't have a computer or the internets back then. Or a face. Just a cassette deck and a radioshack microphone.
Well, all that's changed now. for starters I have a face! Plus, gotten to know cool people here like Mr. Dorsey

Man this is more 80's than the 80's. Needs a killer vocal about models, Rio De Janeiro and being tragically late for the Blitz Club. It's Sheffield, it's 1981 and you have lopsided hair.

Genre Info
Electropop (also called Technopop) is a subgenre of synth pop music which flourished during the early 1980s, although the first recordings were made in the late 1970s. Numerous bands have carried on the electropop tradition into the 1990s and 2000s.
