I posted this in my first year here. It got 4 fans!
A lot has happened since then and I've been very proud to work with a number of people and especially Rebsie who took pity on me I think when I wasn't getting many plays!
I thought this deserved another outing as it's the most intense song I think I've posted here and might get more than 4 fans this time ;-)
I actually re-read the posts and so for Echoroom I changed the drum ;) (thanks Steve)
This was originally recorded on a Zoom hard disk recorder and when I took over the tracks to the Mac to try and remix it I found a number of guitar tracks that I hadn't used in the original mix. Rather than pick and choose I've just thrown most of them in ..... oo-er-missus.
This song was written after the July 2005 bombings in London. I had the chorus of Bitter Season but all my attempts at verse lyrics were awful and trite and I asked a guy in Baltimore who I had done a few collabs with and he came up with a cracking set of lyrics (take a bow John Tully)
This is an angry song and I've just overloaded it in this version. Actually very cathartic piling on the distortion and building a wall of noise :-)

Lyrics
Bitter Season © 2005 John Tully / Dick Langford
Love lost and hearts grow weak
Lives tossed, take the chaff from the wheat
Hopes fade as the bodies break
Truth grays, it's the game that we play
In this bitter season - dreams wither on the vine
Bitter season - There's fire in the sky
Bitter season - We got to find a better reason to die
Hatred, I hear it all around
Hatred, I hate that bloody sound
Bones crack and the blood will run
Skewed facts seem to block out the sun
Sweet lies whispered by the crass
Soft flesh ripped by shattered glass
In this bitter season - God's not on any side
Bitter season - the devil's on the rise
Bitter season - we've got to find a better reason to die
Tears fall but the land is parched
Men crawl while the armies march
Don't try 'cos you can't pretend
There is something left to defend
In this bitter season - pity souls that cry
Bitter season - let history decide
Bitter season - we've got to find a better reason to die
Love lost and hearts grow weak
Lives tossed, take the chaff from the wheat
Hopes fade as the bodies break
Truth grays, it's the game that we play
In this bitter season - dreams wither on the vine
Bitter season - There's fire in the sky
Bitter season - We got to find a better reason to die
Hatred, I hear it all around

This piece sounds great on all levels Dick, magistral... Excellent vocals and guitar playing. I like and I take this one, thanks...
