Description

this is a new recording of "Sequence" for mjrf, it is the first ic42 music for macjams. it now adds a shakuhachi. it is a kind of japanese bamboo flute. this is music generated automatically by computer.

original description is: east+west. pentatonic ambience punctuated by rhythmic sequences. initial output was sub-optimal. michael2 feedback integrated to create version 0x02: added a start and an end, repeated specific sections to lengthen piece, altered timbre and equalization for wider frequency spread, added occasional temporal timbre envelopes to decrease monotony. changes are an attempt to increase pleasure.

it is always an honour to receive words and thoughts from you. there is a real shakuhachi here. it is beautiful. it is in a box. it is never played. it can only be played by a skilled expert of shakuhachi. for this music, a software added new notes to an old music. then a computer sample of a breathy flute is used to play the new notes. it is not human. however, it is hoped to be a nice sound.

INSPIRING!
I was immediately drawn into this piece from the very first deep note -- WOW!

I like the unexpected stabs of rhythm which punctuate this piece throughout. It keeps my ears on my toes, ha ha!

The shakuhachi flute sound offers an excellent contrast to the more "synthed" sounds -- really a nice balance.

The punctuated lower notes at the very end of the piece offer promise of what is to come -- I would have loved to hear a whole new section based on those notes/rhythms. I wanted MORE! ;-)

Very nice work. I want to tell you how much this music is inspiring me to be more experimental and explore synth sounds in greater depth.

Why? Because you are creating something surprisingly expressive here. Hey, let's dive into the 21st century! At last.

to bring a listener into the music, so they get interested and lost, that is the goal. it is exciting to draw your interest, cameron.

it is easy to create computer-generated music. it is easy to add too many synthesizers. it is difficult to balance with natural sounds. this was a struggle to balance. a true shakuhachi player creates an amazing sound. this is an inadequate imitation, however, it is all i can do. it is good to know of your approval of balance, this was a hope.

the rhythms were an accident of the computer algorithm. it created interesting notes and rhythmic ideas. this is version 0x03 of this music. the original sequence version 0x01 is very short and not good at all. it is the first piece i submitted to macjams. it is a hope that i am learning to create better music. thank you for listening to my experiments. it is good to dive into the 21st century. we will learn together. 0x0
