Description
This song is co-written by Bill Evans and myself. Bill wrote 85% of this .
My primary function was to help finish the lyrics. They only needed a tweak here and there. Bill had a very clear vision of where this song was going. Mike House and I recorded this at his studio and brought this thing to life. The bass and keybords where done by Mike on the spot. We picked out a drum loop, I played my guitar part and sang. Then Mike layed down the bass in like two takes (one to write the part and one to record it)I stepped outside to make a phone call and by the time I came back in both parts were recorded and he was working on percussion. We recorded and mixed this thing in four hours! Mike is the consummate professional.

Lyrics
Here she comes, walking down that road.
Here she comes, I hit overload.
There's my girl, strollin' in the sun.
Come on girl, say let's have some fun.

Listen girl, you're the world to me.
Listen closely, lady can't you see.
Together girl, we can gain so much.
I'd lose it all, babe without your touch.

You and I will never be alone.
You and I will have a happy home.
Sunshine Lady please never part.
You would surely break my loving heart.

I don't know, lady why you stay.
Money troubles, bills we barely pay.
These minstrils hands, don't make alot of cash.
But you keep saying to me that our love will last.

Girl take away all the pain
Girl you help me hide all the shame
Past events don't seem to play a part
In the lives of our lovin' hearts.

I don't know, lady why you stay.

Very Nice_______

Man the bass player can play! (Just kidding - Well...) Dave your a great song writer and it is a pleasure working with you. You already know how I feel about this song. This is very nice and you project the feeling in your performance well. After listening several times I feel I could have improved on not only the mix but even the mastering as well. I know this sounds great and I think so as well however - maybe I'm just never satisfied with my work.

I welcome you to MacJams and I hope you enjoy the community and great musicians here.

Thanks for sharing,

mvh : )

You're too modest. Your advice got me straightened out quickly. Thanks for the props. Hearing that from someone with your considerable ear for melody and composition truely humbles me.

Great song
I like this one alot. A few suggestions. Regarding the arrangement, the "You and I will never be alone..." part should come after the first verse. Then a new Chorus should come right after that using our title "Sunshine Lady". Same goes for the second part of the song. This way you will have that hook that can be remembered (not saying this tune is not memorable)because the melody is catchy. I am always trying to get my arrangements to have more structure to them. It's tough. Glad I stopped by and look forward to hearing more in the future.

What makes this work is your terrific voice. Good production; love the acoustic guitar tracks and backing synth/string. Tight, classy, very well done. Please...post more! Thoroughly enjoyable work!

VERY professional
The very first thing I thought when the first notes came bursting out was "WOW, this is so CLEAN!" It's a crystal-clear recording, with excellent vocals and musical backdrop.

I understand that this was created in Mike House's recording studio. What kind of hardware/software was used? This song is top-of-the-line, production- and content-wise.

I'm glad you visited my latest song page and I'm glad I checked you out!

You've got it goin on.

Thank you____
Thanks for the wonderful comments Cameron. I use a Macmini 2.0GHz 1G ram. 160G external firewire HD. Digital Performer 6.01, For this song I used Wave Arts "Track Plug 5, Multi-Dynamics 5, Multi-Verb 5". DP6 "ProVerb", Yamaha 24/14FX mixer. Studio Projects VTB-1 tube mic preamp. Symetrix 525 compressor/expander.Alesis 3630, The loop I believe is from one of the GB packs.(?) Kurzweil K2600s for string - keyboard samples. Amplitube 2 and Izotope Trash for guitar and bass tones. I'm sure a few more plugins I left out. I master in Peak 4 with Izotope Ozone 4 and or T-Racks.

Thanks again,

Thank You
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has listened to this and everyone who's left these encouraging comments. I'm so happy to have found MJ (thanks Mike!). I really hope to start being a productive member of this community. I'm looking into some software options. With any luck I'll be up and running before summer. Until then I'm crossing my fingers that I'll be able to keep collaborating with "The Producer" Mike House.

4 hours
I have to give all the credit too Mike mvh9591 . He did all the recording mixing and mastering. I just laid down the guitar and sang. Mike did the bass, keyboards and percussion in addition to the producing. All of it in four hours. Part of that time we spent taking smoke breaks and talking about equipment. He knows his stuff!

I'm glad that you liked it Holley. I'm always excited when someone hears this one for the first time (I play the CD for friends and co-workers once in awhile). I have a few more like these two that I wrote with a good friend of mine in 1999 - 2000. I'm working on getting them recorded too. Hope to get them up before too much longer.

A nice song listened to by the pizza patron.
I liked this very much. Has an air of Toad the Wet Sprocket.

Excellent vocal performance!

Accoutic style great for song type.

Keyboards too.

Other instruments are absolutely accurate.

Bass part is hard to discern despite my Tascum monitors so I guess I am saying, for my taste, I would make the bass a bit more prominent. Even if to just hear it that way once to see if it made this song even better.

Being new to this web page, I don't know if I can eq this music somehow.

Anyway, I enjoyed it.
