Description
This is probably the most light-hearted song on my upcoming CD (which has been upcoming for too long and needs to get released...).

This is based on a (very obvious but sometimes hidden) insight I had when I was Learning What I Already Know, which was that in the big picture, the *real* big picture, even with the world in its present state, all is fine, actually, Just As It Is.

You don't need to play like that, Maurice, because you play like you do, which fits your style and your wonderful, positive nature perfectly.

You are a great asset to this site, and I'm glad you find the time to make music we get to listen to, and to listen to mine as well. Thanks very much.

Patrick, what a treasure! Your professionalism, wit, heart and soul are all in this piece! My jaw is on the floor, at how effortless this sounds, even though I know it just can't possibly be. Sometimes, I just can't believe I actually KNOW you (sort of)! Amazing work, a pleasure to listen to again and again - thank you dear Patrick!

Karen, I am rather caught off guard... I don't think this song will get much notice here, but reading what you've written is more than enough. I get the feeling that you really *listen* to what I post, and that is such a great gift.

What you've said here is very inspirational to me, which is another great gift. Thank you so much, Karen.

I have so been trying...
...to have that insight... I keep thinking I see it, and then I find exceptions....

Need groove in the bass here, Patrick, and the way that it works against the drums (and eventually tambourine) is pretty neat... I like those occasional nice clean low notes...Neat panning Rhodes thing, too... Is the guitar keyboarded? I like it, whatever it is...

Make sure this hits MacJams with a splash... I'm always running behind, but I'll definitely buy one...

I'd love a conversation with you
... about this topic over a bottle of wine. The idea that all is well just as it is comes from a place I only visit upon occasion - I have not attained actually dwelling there.

I'm pleased you mentioned the bass line. I have not written much music where the bass doesn't play on the one, and this was fun to work on in that regard.

Thanks for listening so deeply, Ed. That is highly appreciated.

Blown away
by this breezy tune. Beautiful production, great melodies and feel. Love the different timbres in various sections, the pushing rhythm with the FM Marimba, and the Rhodes is just soooo great - the right balance of bite with the more digital/FM pads. Like I said, just blown away! Let me know when the CD is available!

What a great job here Patrick and interesting that I thought of our friend Paul Davis when I heard that Rhodes piano sound. I could hear him jamming to this one also. You are so talented, I know you are so shocked to hear that, but someone had to let the Pat out of the bag... All joking aside, this is terrific and I would never expect less. Great song. Thanks for making me smile.

All IS fine Patrick
Very cool tune - a nice set of wonderful sounds - that vibe-like thing is superb. You can't beat a lush e piano though.

As good a production as we're likely to hear at MJ.

I've listened to 5 tunes tonight: this, The Orbiting's new one, Dirigent's Plague, SISTERS newie and Luna Trick backing Rebsie, and am absolutely astounded how good each of these posts is.

Who needs to listen to music from big companies any more?

I'm in for a copy too Patrick.

I like the way you think about music
What a pleasure to hear from you, Anne. I love your musical sensibilities, so your comments are very meaningful to me. I especially appreciate your mentioning the buildup at 2:06. Working the ascending string line against the kalimba/vibe sound leaving the bass as a pedal tone was like opening a present - I had no idea if it would work or how it would work. It just kind of unfolded before me, so to speak.

Thanks for munching on my musical snackies.

How'd I miss this?
I am chagrinned to say to totally missed this 'till now, so I hope you will forgive the late comment...

This is an incredible production; everything fits in so perfectly, nice panning, and a very inventive arrangement. All the sounds you have are just wonderful. I especially like the piano solo. The overall feel strikes me as being a very 'cool' take on funk, and the only thought I have in terms of a possibility to consider is whether it might be a good idea to invite a real guitar player to try a solo or two. It would have to be a really good and very tasteful guitar player, in order not to not detract from what is pretty darn close to a perfect track as it is, but it might be worth a try.

Is your CD out yet? Please let me know where I can buy one.

Professor Ross
Like everyone else here, Clark, I am *always* very grateful to get a comment from our resident Professor of Composition. What a huge gift to have you here in this community. No forgiveness about when you arrive is ever necessary. You will always receive my thanks for your attention to my music.

I agree with you completely that this song would have sounded better had I brought a guitar player in. I was a bit stubborn about this first CD - I wanted to do it on my own. From now on, I will send guitar tracks to people whose style would seem to work with the style of the song. I just finished an arrangement for a client of mine on which I played the wonderful Gofriller Cello by Garritan. It sounded very nice. Then my cello part was replaced by a real cello, and it now sounds so much richer... I'll be doing that sort of thing from now on.

As far as the fine compliments you've left here - I am extremely gratified to read them. I hold you and your musicianship in the highest regard. I can't imagine how many compositions you must listen to by virtue of your teaching position. That you can sit through an entire song of mine is very encouraging, but for you to say such nice things... I am very pleased, very humbled. Thank you so much, Clark.

My CD will be a gift to you, of course, for the gifts of inspiration you've given to me.
