Description
Arranged two years ago from "loops only", Hugo's Kiss has been remixed (though the original was never posted here) to try to incorporate some of the suggestions made by other MJers for the general betterment of my other tunes.

I've been enjoying revisiting and remixing these pieces: it's as much fun as arranging the original tune. I look at some of the volume curves, for example, and see that they are just straight lines, so to vary the volume, to bring an instrument to the foreground and then send it back while something else comes forward for a while, to weave the various tracks into and out of each other, has been educational as well as enjoyable.

One of these days (I hope) I'll be able to post something more original than I have to date (ie: not loops only) but until then ...

Special thanks to Michael Blair for sitting in on drums. Other instruments are: fretless bass, synths, and piano.

Hope you enjoy this. Please leave a comment even if you don't ;-)

You are a gentleman, Feter
and I'm happy to see you liked it so much you fav'd it twice! Art Rock works for me: I'm still not sure about choosing genres when posting. Thanks, too, for the vote.
Cheers

A pleasant listen
Even loop-based tunes need some musical skill to put them together effectively ... sounds like you have the right kind of ideas.

I'm honoured (and I can spell it properly for you)
Thanks for the visit Rebsie. I'm happy you enjoyed your listen and left a note.

I enjoy your posts very much (and the t-shirt pictures are fun).

Cheers, Richard

Seems like...
...you accomplished all the mix ideas that you describe (above). Very much in control there. Your comments suggest a longing for more in the area of melodic development. That's the next step. Don't be afraid to take it. (It doesn't hurt.) Then you will be off the dance floor and swinging in the stars. ... THIS was a very pleasant listen and I am glad you posted it...Fade out -- choice!
Peace.

I'm one step closer, but still on the dance floor. Thanks Paul, I'm happy you liked this. You're right: I do long to develop more, melodically, and with your (and others') continued encouragement, I suspect I'll get there eventually.
Cheers

Your continued support is most gratifying, davis
(or may I call you Terry? - I think I saw somewhere that's your name). I guess it takes a while for some of the MacJams regulars to discover newbies like me, and to have them comment favourably is very encouraging, especially since there seems to be a general prejudice against loop tunes. I'd be the first to admit that my "tunes" are not as worthy as some of the exceptionally talented and creative bunch here but, to my way of thinking, an enjoyable piece of music is just that, regardless of how it was created. Thanks again, and cheers.

Very flowing sound space and then
this syncopated piano comes in and raises the energy. Love it. I have to go off and mine some more of your work.

Best wishes,
Doug
