That repeating pattern - guitar or synth? Pretty cool to have that more or less going through the whole song to bind it together. Very good production and I think you've made the drums sound cool and very fitted to the groove of the whole song. The way you put melody lines from the guitar in parts of the song is something I find attractive, but seldom remember to try out myself... maybe I'll have a go at that...

the guitar synthy line I played all the way through and then cut out what I didn't need. I used a EVOC filterbank plug in on it. It can do some pretty cool effecting. Some of the setting are down right bizzare.

The drums I play on the keyboard and kept them pretty simple. I have the most fun working out harmony guitar melody lines. try a three part and you can get that Brian May sound.

	voivod holes the drum setting that I use through the sample synth I used was studio heavy for a big heavy drum sound. the chirpy organ was a gated synth, there's a lot of extra sounds it creates but you can't hear them in the mix because they go so low or quite. I've been wanting to use one for quite a while but they never would fit until this song. Check out my latest song called November

That opening guitar just rips through the phones, and great drum sound, muscular and effective. The lyrics are really well done. People do indeed drive you crazy; isn't it good that you have a way to vent while brightening the world with such cool sounds! This rocks, my friend, and I think the Bowie influence is clear (and welcome). You are so consistently high quality in your music, and so prolific! Very cool. Nicely done, man. Peace.

here's the story
the first set of lyrics I wrote was about blackholes. then I did rewrite the lyrics based around the movie Brazil, but it ended up sounding a bit to fairy tail-ish, so I ended up using a bit of both and added more for the final set of lyrics.

True the vocals are a conscience effort to fit the song. My normal voice couldn't cut it very well.

I think I wrote this before...
...which is, now that I come to think of it, a sensation I've been having more and more lately, but anyway...

The thing that continues to strike me about your more recent posts is how much more spacious and three dimensional they sound than your early stuff. And remember, I LIKED your early stuff, and was all over it, but this sounds more like a real guy fronting a real band... In the phones the effect isn't just left to right, but front to back and all around... Very spacious and live sounding... Great light tizz on the cymbals and high hat that doesn't sound over sizzled... The bass occupies a nice space between the vocal melody and the guitar bits... Nice hearing the wah in there, too...

I also hear you pushing yourself a little more on vocals these days, really putting breath behind 'em, and it produces an 'oomph' that you don't get by just pushing up a fader...

I keep finding minor things along the way about a mix, true it' not all about panning. usually I kind find the right spot and let it sit. bringing levels in and out is the tricky part. it can be so minute and make a big difference.

The drums I play out on 3 separate tracks. cymbals and high hat stuff go on it's own, so ther is more independence there.

I'm also cutting more things out then I normally would have in the past. I have one heck of a monumentous task to go back and remix/recut a lot of my older songs, yikes!

Ice hot. Just what I like to hear, a perfect envelope around white noise, curving it like the petal of a flower in the sunlight of empty space. In other words, that lead behind the chorus is cool, I am always drawn to that kind if ripping edge of noise sound, and I love the way you shaped it. I didn't read all the comments, so I don't know if this has been said, but if you take 1 shot of "taxman" and 1 shot of "the soft parade" (two great songs) over ice, fill up the glass with Vic Holman on vacation, cover and shake 5 times, you get this intoxicating and refreshing result. Great work.

I must be hanging out on the darkest side of all moons and everything round in the sky or just not gettting enough sleep or something because people irritate me way more then they should be allowed to these days. LOL! Or you could just be a man of patience and grace, Vic... Likely the case.

I liked your voice on this one. I can hear the Bowie in there. Good guitars and production.

One suggestion for the chorus. Don't say "in Brazil" after the second and third lines, but make it the last line of the chorus. I think would lessen the repetitive nature of the melody and be a great place to send off to a lead or musical climax.

I tried that...
getting away from myself for awhile - harder than you think it would be - accepting the way things actually are, and changing your perspective to be more in harmony with finding the door in the brick wall instead of beating your head against it takes time. Ha! Ha! : ) Life is good - not perfect - but good. Sorry I got behind on Vic tunes, but my sabbatical was a good thing - everything in moderation from here on out. Hope that won't make my comments dull as dishwater.... : )
