Description
I have really been impressed by the heavy metal music I have come across on MacJams. It's not my usual style but I have always wanted to try a metal song, so here it is. I'm not sure if it qualifies as real heavy metal, some of it came out a bit punky,

Lyrics
Aluminum Waif

inflame one more aluminum waif?
When do you mutate?
entropy-monsters engulfing

Injection of suffocating debris...
we don't forget
electrical senses blow the target

who didn't worship aluminum waif?
If you are heathen, cry.
The niece didn't ingurgitate my waif?
Magnify your thermoplastic face

Where there's your omnipotent bible
You will instruct us...
god decomposes, detonates

Then why do we reproduce?
You service yourself.

servicing yourself
i was just wondering the other day when we'd see another Relic tune! And how cool dude. Really dig the the timing changes. Style is definitely metal - mix of late 70's Maiden or Sabbath and early Metallica. Love how you can't resist the little sunny pop lead melody here and there - gives it real character and sets it apart. Also really like the typically metal killer outro with the double bass and the thrashing around. Finally the lyrics are a hilarious parody of metal lyrics dude very witty. Dl'd. Thanks!!

thnx
thanks, glad it went over OK. After I posted it, I was fully expecting people to say, "This is s**t".
Of course, I'm sure some are thinking that and not commenting!
It was hard for me to restrain the more melodic side, I came very close to putting in "Na na na" backing vocals at one point...

The lyrics are courtesy of Leon's Random Song Lyrics Generator... a great website for random lyrics, band names, chord changes etc...good for many laughs.

I am a bona fide metal fan, though... no disrespect to the genre intended.

na na na
you should definitely put in the na na na backing vocals, i'd like to hear that. i like metal too, but prefer the creative side of the genre, the guys who aren't afraid of melody like Pantera (they come close to funk on some tunes).

way to go!
cool riffs and rockin tune.
I think the hardest part about metal music is doing the vocals. you actually pulled of the shredding throat for it.

shredding throat
It can't be good for the throat LOL.
I tried to do the death metal growl but I just couldn't manage it. I think there is a bit more technique involved than I thought... so I just yelled.

alright!
glad to get the stamp of approval from a true metal artist.
I have an idea for a better guitar sound (even though I don't think I have the right pickups for metal), so I may try another metal tune at some point.

top job
very very cool. Love the vocals on this, just the right mix of metal/punk styling, stops it having the cheesyness thats so common on metal vocals. top job.

well done

Your fingers are golden. The guitars strings and the computer keys bow down to your prowess. Yes I'd say it's punk, but the indie-metal-punk like old dri or descendents. I hope you know of the descendents. If not you might like to check out the "hallraker" live album if you can still get it. Good stuff on there. I always liked "peptalk"and "cheer".

You always get good depth and clarity in your mix. This one is not quite as polished sounding as some of your other songs, but I think it's harder to achieve with this style. Metal is pretty demanding. But again, for the indie-punk-metal niche, it's pretty much right in there. You did a great job.

DRI
Yes, I did think of DRI as I was listening back to this. My little brother used to listen to them a lot, back in the day. As to the descendents, I have not heard them but will certainly check it out.
Thanks for your comments, really appreciate it!

I like the songs you have
in different genres. But I would definitely look forward to another relic metal song if possible. As for the pickups- I've found that it's the attitude that matters. For instance perhaps drop tune the guitar and put the fuzz (distortion) up. I hope to hear some more relic- metal or not, soon!

Solid groove
Drums are sounding right up there, are they live? I love the mix between the two genres, some accomplished change ups and tempos. Singing and vocals are very apt and fitting. Great tune.

the drums are courtesy of Beta Monkey - "Double Bass Mania II", a really cool collection of drum loops (also well organized/named and very easy to use). I'll never be that good a drummer! glad you liked!

beta monkey drum loops
These ones are from "Double Bass Mania II" drum loop collection (Beta Monkey).
I have also used Drums on Demand and Addictive Drums for different songs, as well as the GB loops.
I think the loops are usually an imperfect substitute for real drums, but at the same time it's pretty cool what you can do with them.

Timing.....
... man the timing on this is awesome. The break downs and the drumming are terrific. Love the vocal too. Puts me in mind of Pepper Keenan (Corrosion of Conformity) in places. Is there nothing you can't turn your hand to?

glad you liked it... changing the tempo using GB was rather time consuming but I felt it needed to be done...
I like to try lots of things in the rock and folk arenas.
Can't do much other than that though!

Heavy Metal is back.
You've pull off the agonizing speed drum sound. Nice job.
The vocals were a lot better then I expected, since a lot of metal
consists of simple power chords and screaming.

This is better then all of Metallica.

I get a very seedy post apocalyptic vibe, and that's totally "bitch ass".

power chords and screaming...
that's kind of what I was going for LOL.
as I mentioned above, lyrics were from a random generator (somewhat tweaked) which does yield some pretty seedy output!
glad you liked!

great sound
i really like the sound you got going, raw and tough, the vocals are great, tempo changes are good, i think the low end could be brought up a lot, need that bass and this song is begging for it. having said that that the whole thing makes me think of rollins band or suicidal tendencies, and, metallica's "and justice for all". i know these are heavy hitters but you got that lofi/heavy sound going on that's really cool, but, after reading previous comments, would love to see your own lyrics, i realize this may not be your regular style, but this tune seems to deserve more than just "Leon's Random Song Lyrics Generator". thanks for sharing.

Well it sounds good to me. Those double bass loops are awesome - I'm almost convinced to get them also. I used to listen to this kind of rock all the time. More metal on MacJams!

...I'm not much of a metal fan, but occasionally I hear a tune I can really get behind. This is one of them bro.

Metallic, with classic and prog rock sensibilities...Punkish vocal delivery.
