Description
This is the second part of the "Medicine Show" tracks with Feter. Black Coat John was the first track of the set. These tracks just represent a way for us to try and find a vehicle in which to become a band on stage. I began work on this initial track early December 2008. It became evident I was going nowhere with any lyrics and handed this off to Terry and in the meantime sent a rough copy to Feter to begin to think about some additions. Terry is a master story teller and when his lyrics came back I was not disappointed. The lyrics are very open ended to me as far as meaning. I ask Terry what they meant and he just laughed and said "... deception". Roxylee brought what she always does, pure professionalism and a beauty of a voice. Our brother Feter just jammed away on Mr. Bright and sang bass vocal backing. A very special thank you to Patrick [Outtaorbit] and his ugly blue Yahama.
One of the post final "ears" we asked for help from said " ...this is a hymn for the people ... all of us." ..... I loved that. The song clicked for me personally after watching too many hearings on the television. I will let you ask Terry for any other clarification you may want ... I have mine.
Production Notes:
All of the instruments are real. Each track was performed as a whole and no splices were used. The feeling of actually playing live was pretty close and also pretty cool. The guitar, harmonica and drums were recorded through a KorgD 3200 board. The bass, vocals, and calliope were recorded in Garageband. Feter's mandolin was recorded independently.
Terry [davisamerica2]........ Lyrics and vocals
Roxylee............................. Vocals
Feter ................................. Mandoline and vocals
Patrick [Outtaorbit] .............Bass
Jack [davisamerica] .............Instruments
This was a bear for me to mix and it could still be a bit better. It would never have gotten this close without the advice and early listening of Drakonis, Magnatone, Len Gold and Bud. A very special thank you to Bud for spending some phone time to walk me through.
Bud once said these things are .."all about the casting" ... he was right and I am in debt to the folks who pulled this off.

Lyrics
Going Down
I've seen your face in the summer light
I've seen your face on a moon-lit night
..... and they are not the same
I don't know which one i should believe
There's one that's truth, but one deceives
.... and if that's your aim
Then I'm taking you down
There's glory in each step we take
When we're on the path to Glory's Gate
But if you're not then accept your fate, and you know that you're going down
Though you thrash about like you're spitting mad
I can't help but think that you're really glad about the mess we're in
And yes, I see your indignant frown
But is it just a smile turned upside down?
Did you really win ?
Then I'm taking you down
There's glory in each step we take
When we're on the path to Glory's Gate
But if you're not then accept your fate, and you know that you're going down
Going down .....
You spend your life in a dreamy state
You're either half asleep or you're half awake
Does it matter which?
When you come to where the crossroads join
You just scratch your head and then toss a coin
And say "Life's a bitch"
I'm taking you down
I've seen your face in the summer light
I've seen your face on a moon-lit night
..... and they are not the same
