Description
Another Stuart Walker song that he gave me permission to cover. It was sort of short so I repeated the song at the end with a dobro solo over it.

This
sounds great in my ears. Beautiful guitar playing to suit the sparsely arrangement. Again your singing is perfect for the song. The repeating melody pattern from the mechanical sounding instrument in the background serves as a thread to hold this fragile (in a positive way) song together... Nice work on the dobro:)

Who is Stuart Walker?
I LOVE his songwriting!

Your cover of his song is like a room full of movement. It's chilling. The instrumentation is gorgeous. The dobro sounds like someone crying out questions. Perfect choice.

Gumbo
Stuart Walker lives in Ireland, out in the country in a little town, and I got to know him through MacIdol. He is on MacJams as Gumbo, but he doesn't have anything posted here. He is very prolific but being a family man I guess only has time to maintain his music on the internet in one place, so you shouldn't hold that against him. His MacIdol profile is http://macidol.com/jamroom/bands/1482/

Anyway, Stu is a super guy and he writes really great songs. My versions of his songs usually take a fair amount of liberties, but he doesn't seem to mind! Thanks for your comment!

watery

Great vocals Jim, the watery effect is right for this, and the repeat with the solo worked well.

Sometimes less is more, ne'st pas. Great track. Completely original, but, for me, it scratches the Leonard Cohen itch. Really enjoyed this.

Sounds awesome, Jim
Another great track from you Jim. Everything you've done on this track seems to focus the ear on lyric, where each sound cradles the vocal; I love that. The dobro seems a little too far forward for my ear when it comes in at the end of the vocal( I think it sounds louder than the vocal) but is otherwise a perfect ending; I agree, it would have been too short. I'll check this Stuart Walker guy out, thanks.

I have been playing music a long time. When I was growing up my brothers had a band called the Regal Tones which was quite popular in our little town in upstate New York State. They got bitten by the music bug and later went on to found the p... [see more]
