Description
I wanted to do a Waltz (3/4 time) for ages, but there are precious little drums or none at all in that beat in the the garageband loops, so I did my own little loop. I hadn't a clue what it was going to be, but I wanted to try out my new guitar (rhythm only) and this song just seemed to fall into place. I would have liked a mouth organ accompaniment, but not having one or even able to play one, I went for the trusty emotional sounding accordion once again. Hope you like this easy listening song; just have a tissue ready LOL It does have a slight 'Old Shep' feel.

Lyrics
“Why ?”
I knew when I met you,
I’d never forget you,
And never would want you to go,
Though you were feeling the same as I,
Nothing prepared me for why…
My Heart would be breaking
‘Twas yours for the taking,
And truly, you stole it away,
All that you left was an empty shell,
Nothing prepared me for why…
Bridge.
You had to leave; I had to grieve,
Everything’s gone that we’d grown,
Lonely and lost; I’m paying the cost,
Like a dove you have flown.
You’d still be here,
Still calling me ‘Dear’,
Laughing at things that I’d say,
But here I stand with a tear in my eye,
And I’m still wondering why.
(Repeat bridge.)
God had to take you,
I’ll never forsake you,
And you’ll always be on my mind,
I know you’ll still feel the same as I,
But I’ll never understand why.
Repeat last verse x 2.
No, I’ll never understand why.

Maurice, you are a very good songwriter, and the instrumentation is just the right amount for these words. I love waltzes, even if they are sad. Thank you for sharing your heart with us, and I hope you get to see her again someday.
