Description

I was going through a time when I thought I was doing well and had 'progressed' as a human being when I did something which was very selfish and un-thinking..and a friend pulled me up about it ( quite rightly) so it's about other people giving you a good wake up call when you might be getting a bit self-absorbed.
As Lenny Bruce once said 'We're all the same schmucks'

Whoa - the clapping has just come in! I'm a sucker for clapping!!!!!!
This is a really nice production - you have a real ear for separating all the components of the song without much fuss - I like the way the guitars come in/drop out/change around, whilst it's all rooted to the driving bass and drums. Really nice track! Enjoyed -
One extra thought - I think the drum sound is a bit GarageBandy (so to speak). Maybe it might be worth investing in something like EZ Drummer - which allows you to have midi functionality, but much better quality sample - just a thought :-))

Hi
the claps are just samples.
I sort of know what you mean about the drums.
I did the original version in an old version of Logic via my Emu sampler and I thought it was a better version but couldn't record the guitars ( long story) so re-vamped it in GB.
Have been thinking about either idrum or Ezdrummer and may take the plunge now.

	Well structured tune I like the repetition in the bass and the circular steadiness of the verse coupled with slight variations in the chorus. Goes well with the lyrics - which are really good by the way. Played - sung - mixed really well. Nice package. Check out my latest song called try not to think

great song
Good stuff as ever. The bass line did actually remind me of boys and girls by Blur, but the effect is quite different - more reflective. I like the way the tune goes in a circle to reflect the lyrics. I like the way it powers up towards the end too. I didn't mind the drums, I thought they sounded ok. If you're going to upgrade, why not go with Logic Express - it has lots of drum samples and an excellent drum machine. It takes a bit of learning, but it's a lot more capable than GB.

	the clap I was sort of reluctant to put the claps on. On the original version I just had a sort of electro drum coming in to fill the middle 8 but I couldn't find anything like it on GB so I stuck the claps in. Glad it worked and you and Dolby dig it. I like this
Nicely recorded and a played - this is a good little song. I wasn't sure where it was going when it started, but once it settled into it's pattern I got really involved. Bits of Blur, Bowie, Cars all sneak through (all favourites of mine btw).

Like Phil, I thought the drums were the weak link. I've played with iDrum and Ultrabeat (in Logic Pro 8), but am now of the opinion that in most cases, the best result is to play the kit in at the (piano) keyboard one drum at a time (start with kick, then snare on the next pass, then hats etc). It all depends on having a good soundfont of course. I'm not sure if they are still available but before I got LP8 I was using a sample set called ns_kit7free - a free set of really good drum samples from naturalstudio.com.

Anyway, I don't think the drum sound is a big deal here, just that you seem interested in doing better with drums.

I really like some of the throwaway lines as if you're on stage - they worked for me.

Thanks for the tip for naturalstudio. I think they've started charging for it by the look of it.
I wish I still had my LM-9 VST. I used to really like the simple but effective sounds on it.
I usually do high hats on one track and bass drum and snare on the other..just to sort of keep track of the layout really.
Still experimenting and getting better results on some tracks and not so on others.
Anyway
