Description
This pretty piece of music was up for grabs at Indaba.
Ryan McDougall provided all the music, D Elmer R sprinkled it with some lovely percussion, and it all made Anne go OOOO

Ohhhh those vocal harmonies
make the hair stand up on my neck. What a great sound you can achieve with your orchestration - all the instruments stand out so well on their own terms. It sounds like some of the arrangements that Burt Bacharach used in the 60s at times (although not the vocals), especially as you play with the tempo and build the energy. Wonderful!!

Be well,
Doug

thank you, Doug - but the credit for the music goes to Ryan McDougall, an 18 year old from Indaba Music. sure glad you stopped round.

The Boldt violin is wrong
but everything else is right, girls (girl?). I'm particularly fond of those vinegar notes at 1:25... That understated finale is poetry.

But please....eat! (You look so thin).

?
MoM, many thanks for the review. is it the wrong violin (and how many are there that you instantly recognize Boldt?) or is ANY violin wrong, altogether, iyho? vinegar - i believe you might be right - tho sometimes the sweetness of sister vocals needs a little cutting with the sour. 8)
good ear, MaMa! thank you for your time,
anne

Boldt
I HAVE been around a long time, dear. I recognize EVERYTHING. And, yes, it's, imho, simply the wrong type of violin rather than the wrong instrument.
And, yes, I do love to hear those honey tones cut with a bit of sour ( a little cooking secret just between us girls).

Wonderfully different
I always thought that the sisters had loverly instruments and here you prove that I was right. The voice without words to hide errors in technique or intonation or or attack is a good way to find out if a singer has "it". You do.

Can you
put up the lyrics please Anne? ;)

Like Rebsie's latest with Luna Trick, I think I'd like to hear this with real instruments in a small hall. Vocals are typically wonderful, but the virtual nature of the backing kind of takes the edge of it for moi.

Anne, you could sing the phone book and it would sound great.

ooo ....
i love this. the horns remind me a bit of a chicago sound. but then .... you take flight and soar. will admit you could cough and get my attention but this really is quit a nice trip thru many doors. i really find this satisfying with out any "set vocals" .... it just takes you by the hand and lets you wander. Nice ... nice ... nice

Lovely and melodic with a nice touch of nostalgic piano. Loads of 'up' energy'. Your music is wonderful - thanks.

All around lovely sound!

Sorry I'm late
That midi backing track is a pretty interesting counter to your (real, I think) voice. Some nice shifts in there, too. I dig 'ooh aah's and 'wah woh's: they don't tax my brain like words do; I can just go with the flow.
It IS a little short, though.....
