Description
Several months ago Kevin (Bud) sent me his file's to do a remix of his song "Nothing In The Way" and wondered what I would do with them. I had to think about it for quite a while, because Bud's song was great.
So I had an idea to strip away some of the tracks, leaving five midi tracks and a drum beat. In a random sort of way I changed those tracks to different sound samples through the EXS24 synth. I then played different synths for the verse sections, which are two different chord progressions. Then I added four guitar tracks and a bass track. Plus an additional two drum tracks.
I started doing the vocals and lyrics on the first verse. At which point it dawned on me I needed to get Daniel (LunaTrick) in on this. I sent him what I had at the time and he picked up on the idea and ran with it. Daniel sent me back 4 excellent vocal tracks. I then added an additional 2 backing vocal tracks.
We are getting into a lot of tracks here. Best on headphones for this one.
I started the first verse of lyrics with no real idea of where it would go. Daniel brought it all together.
Daniel on his lyrics:
"I based my lyrics on using circuitry as a metaphor.
How the load in a circuit actually becomes a resister and pushed power back to
the source - sort of made me think of human relationships.
... as if power can will itself and become overloaded."
A big thanks to Kevin and Daniel for making this all possible.

OVERLOAD (Lyrics)
Jam all frequencies, must overload
Transmission silence, erase the code
Nothing but static, the plug is pulled
I'm the Power - I'm the load
I feel resistance on the circuit board
Electric crackle and a dangling cord
Signal surging of its own accord
Close the circuit with your flesh
I'm the Power - I'm the load
Unseen fingers hover on the switch
no certainty and all chance of glitch
Am I in series or in parallel?
Am I in Heaven, am I in Hell?
You're the power - I'm the load
Capacitor crunches overhead
I feel the voltage surging to my head
My eyes go white - electricity
The circuit closes and you're dead to me
You're the power - You're the load
Once the heat of current grips
I take the power from your blue-blood lips
My body tenses and my eyes explode
My fingers dance - you embed the code
I'm the power - you're the load
Now I hunger for an amped out heart
You jolt my system with an angry start
Electric pressure gathers in my spine
I hurl it back down the fraying line
I'm the power - I'm the load
I'm the power - you"re the load
You're the power - you're the load
You're the power - I'm the load
We're the power - we're the load
Jam all frequencies, must overload
Transmission silence, erase the code

I'm the Power - I'm the load
