Here With You - Better MIX

Get Flash to see this player.

Description
This is an updated mix of a recent previously posted post.
I noticed in the first version that a shaker part in the second chorus cut out prematurely so I went in fixed that and a few other things among them were thickening the drums and filling out the overall mix in general.
Sorry for the dual post but think you'll like this mix better....I hope - let me know what you think! Thanks!

Lyrics
HERE WITH YOU
©2009 Ray Kainz
The world seems to disappear
along with all my pain and all my fear
hours pass as if just fleeting moments
when I'm here with you
when I'm here with you

The world seems ro reappear
through your words and through your falling tears
hours pass as we reassess the moments
when I'm here with you
when I'm here with you

Let the clouds gather it doesn't matter
Let the winds blow it's all for show
Let the rain fall it doesn't matter at all
when I'm here with you
when I'm here with you

As we rise above all the busy lies
I am mesmerized by the light that shines from your eyes
And that's more than enough to fill these fleeting moments
when I'm here with you
when I'm here with you
here with you

Very well done!
Not sure what to say, other than BRILLIANT! Very pro-sounding production. Performances are amazing, and I love the mandolin. Vocals are spot-on (and great lyrics). Whatever you're doing, keep it up!

Awesome!
This is a great tune! Ready for release. Well done on the drums, organ (maybe, might just be a soft flange, can't tell), mandolin. vocals are good, lyrics are great, mix is fantastic, changes are tight! This is absolutely done like a pro! Ready for release, absolutely ready for release.

some new Ray!!!
Beatlesque... more specific.. Harrison at his best... your dynamics work very well... the song breaths... when the guitar solo came in I went looking to see what you used... "thinking that if this was a software modeler I would go get it right now... figures a Marshal amp... can't fake the real thing... the electric sounds perfect... and I loved that manolin touch... your posts are worth waiting for...

excellent work Ray

Mr. Carmichael!
Thanks Scott. Ah, Harrison - the silent Beatle - but his songs were always great. Quality over quantity with George.
I LOVE my '79 Marshall Master Model 50w Mk. 2 Lead head! Emulators are cool but like you said - nuthin' like the real deal. That head was given to me by a good friend under the impression that it didn't work at all. That's what he told me (I'm not sure why he thought that). Well, I tucked in away in a closet until I got around to getting it fixed. Then about a year and a half later as I was cleaning up the studio I rediscover this head and decide to plug it in. Well, the thing worked like a charm. I've had the amp for close to ten years now and it does sound amazing - my G&L especially likes to be played through that Marshall.
Thanks for checking out the tune Scott!

More excellent than
the first one! Smooth, crisp, clear. The guitars and mandolins so perfect in the cans! Nicely done!

Nice Ray!
This is very nice Ray! I think the snare sounds a little fluffy, or soft, and needs beefed up a bit. It also sounds like there might be too much top end on the cymbals. They stick out in the mix a little bit. Maybe bring the levels down a bit on those. Mastering tends to bring out the highs a little too much and can make things harsh. Those are just very minor gripes on an other wise perfectly polished song!

Thanks Adam
Really appreciate your comments. I did notice that the cymbals and highs in general are very very hot. That's what you get for mixing with listening fatigue. Also, upon doing the "car check" I noticed crazy out of control sibilance on the vocals.
I'm currently working on a new mix - hopefully it will be much warmer.

Hats off to Ray!
You have done a splendid production job Ray. So good in fact I can even forgive the gospel inflections on the vocals.

Keep pushing Ray!

Lovely sound
The intro sounds amazing. The bass sounds amazing. your vocals sound very good, as do guitars and keys. What a cool song. The LH acoustic is a little too obviously LH for me - especially in the quieter intro, where I'd suggest centring it a bit (or adding a doubled signal on the RH side to balance it out more).

The enigmatic organ has me straining my ears to hear it better. I'm not sure that's a problem, as it sounds great as it is - very airy sound there. There's a hint of Traffic and of Spooky Tooth for me.

The light and shade in this is pretty extreme, and I'm wondering if the jump to the fuller sound sections is a little severe. Again, that's not a criticism, but rather an observation. I LOVE the punch you're getting from the bass and kick.

Extremely cool song.

Hey Neil!
Thanks for your comments. You bring up some valid things to consider. Regarding the acoustic stereo placement - I hear what you are saying, I'm even reconsidering the placement of some of the other elements too.

I was going for a 'smoke lingering in the air' sound with the effected organ pad. Very ornamental - I didn't want it to attract attention.

Light and Shade - I'm saving the 'keep it all lighter' version for the coffee house, but I'm a rocker at heart...I just had to do it Neil!

Thanks for your comments bro!

This
is extremely great.Your playing, recording, singing and writing skills are ridiculously good. And yes the Marshall tone is nasty and beautiful at the same time.

Excellent song - and great production
hints of Wilco - and that's big in my book. You can really play that guitar and have a really fine voice. Wish I could do this - I'm pretty amazed.
