Flyby's and Other Trajectories (The TC Mix)

This mix is dedicated to the memory of Tim Conrardy, who died earlier this month and who was a pioneer of electronic, synthesized music and was friend to many.

The mix is using presets that Tim produced so the style, whilst being ultimately mine, is interwoven with Tim's thoughts and ideas.

I have used many synths that Tim had a hand in either designing or providing presets for. I will still be using these whilst ever I put mixes together.

This mix uses four instances of a free synth, Subconscious, with various presets playing through the piece. There are sparklies in this mix, but they seemed to fit in so well that I left them there.

It's another long one, being 11 minutes or so, relax and spend a few minutes of your time in quiet contemplation of Tim and others who have been true pioneers of the this human condition and who have moved on.

As always please let me know your thoughts.
As the title says, its a soundscape with the perspective of satellites on journies and their flyby's, slingshot procedures and their trajectories.

I hope you have time to take the journey with me.

Hi Dee......
It's good to know that you can relax listening to this piece. I did it purely as a tribute to Tim but I see what you mean now I step back from that.

Take care.

Celestial mechanics.
Yessir. Another apt bit of inspiration. Satellites on their deceptively placid trajectories. When I hear ambient this good, I don't relax. Relaxation is not the goal of good ambient (that's for New Age in all its blandness). Good ambient fires up the imagination. Here you've succeeded in doing just that. The 11 minutes flies by. This is my new favorite of yours. I will do some research on Conrady, since I am, in my ignorance, unfamiliar with him.

Hi Ex.....
I think that your views are important. I think that there is room for all sorts of view on all sorts of music, Ambient being just one source.

It's Tim Conrardy, in case you get the Google coming back blank.

My view with music, and life in general, is to not be too focused on anything, music especially, as it changes so much, even the area that you know. Also to focus on one aspect is good on a specific mix but bad on the genre as a whole. Focus means you miss the bigger picture, whos observation can always learn you something new, if you are open and receptive to it.

Take care.

Truly excellent...
...and, as mentioned by ES, thought provoking.

I too have no knowledge of Tim Conrardy. If the music is as good as this, them I will surely be in for a treat.

Hi Davajonah.....
Thank you for your very kind words. The piece was very impromptu, as I read about Tim on KVR and someone, whos synths I'd used in the past, put up the link for a free synth plugin that Tim had done presets for. I downloaded this and the results are this mix and something like another ten or eleven mixes using the same/similar presets but differing in the rhythm. I may put some of the others up here or elsewhere, as time goes by.

Tim was a seemingly tireless soul who would quite happily do some presets for anyone who sent him a soft synth, and would most likely send a mix or two for others to listen to.

Take care.

Tim Conrardy
This has been bugging me! The name - familiar. Then I realised I have some soundbanks made by him in my Crystal synth. I've used many of them in the past! So I am aware of him after all. I didn't know he'd died.

Hi Davajonah....
He collapsed whilst out hiking sometime in February, near where he lived, and never regained consciousness.

I was using some of those same presets this morning, playing around with another ambient piece put together from his sounds.

Take care.
