Description
Funny how songs turn out when you're playing around with chord patterns. I thought this was going to be a strange dreamy type of of beat song and then when I began writing the words it got a bit of a rhythm. Then as I added instruments (after thinking how my guitar had a Spanish kind of sound) it turned into a kind of Flamenco cum Rhumba, come something else, so I added the solo guitar with midi using the GB 'Classical guitar' sound. Couldn't find my old castanets ( everybody has a pair hanging around don't they? LOL), so I got a sound off the midi that fits in OK. Well it's turned out as a Spanish influenced love song... hope you like it.... M

Lyrics
Come
1.
Come, into my dreams, while I sleep
Stay, so thoughts of you are in my keep,
Let your very essence in me seep.
2.
Come and make this life a wonderland for me,
Make your presence felt, so I can see,
All my cares and sadness turn and flee.

Chorus.
Stand beside me every day I breathe,
Show me love I know will never leave,
Bring your love-light all around,
Let my heart, let it know just what it found,
3.
Come, so the world can see your light,
Soaring like a bird in flight,
Yet, always staying in my sight.

Instrumental.
Chorus.
Stand, stand beside me every day I breathe,
Show me love, show me love, I know will never leave,
Bring your love-light all around,
Let my heart, let it know just what it found,
4.
Shine, so the world can see your light,
Soaring like a bird in flight,
Yet, always staying in my sight.

Maurice Vizard.

Very dreamy
from the first note. I liked the delicate tinkles and pseudo-castanet. Even Sancho Panza could have bedded Dulcinea if he sang this for her. Clickety-click!
Thanks.

Thank you for your time and comment..... The castanet sounded more natural in GB, but by the time it was in mp3 I wondered if it sounded a bit too much like a mechanical woodpecker going to work on my maracas LOL, cheers M

Hiya Jack
great to see you here and much appreciated that you liked this enough to DL. Regarding the midi guitar; there was no real subtlety to work with on this particular guitar sound such as a little 'natural' vibrato, but I think I got away with it with the pencil tool, cheers M

Gentle pace. Has the flavor of a latin number. Slow start and then the castanets. Nicely done :) Excellent genre for your vocals.

One of your very best Maurice
Love the intro and then the music starts and it becomes a beautiful love ballad ala Flamenco. Love your guitar solo, it is very well done my friend. The rest of the music is the equal to it as well.

This ones going on the iPod for sure Maurice, I just love the way it moves and glides along. Also you have some nice change ups in it that bring the story to the front of the stage. Very well recorded and your singing is right on the mark.

The best my friend simply the best,

Ed

Very Nice
I really enjoyed this. The clean effects on the guitar sounds perfect. I think the solo guitar could be a bit louder. The bass could be a bit punchier too, but that's just my preference for a tight bass and drum groove. The vocals and effects fit the song. It almost has that old record effect. Cool stuff.

Great production Maurice
You've done a fantastic job on getting the sounds right here, and your mixing has come a long way. Guitar sounds good - my only nits are that the castanets (or whatever they are) and bell tree are probably too loud for the guitars, bass and drums. Not sure you need that extra reverb at the end of lines.

This is a very smooth post - I think this is the best I've heard you sound.

Congratulations!

Neil

Thanks Neil
glad you think so. It's surprising how those sharp castanet sounds carry compared to smoother sounds. While the midi guitar notes were around 70 to 80 DB I had to take the castanet right down to 30-ish, but below that it had a muffled sound..... the reverb at end of lines was meant to give a feeling of lift, as in ' soaring like a bird in flight', as well as adding to the dreamy quality. But I'm very pleased with your thoughts on this and glad you think it's my best yet. I do agree that it's 'cleaner' than I usually get, but there aren't as many tracks in this.... so I hope I can keep it up LOL. Consistency would be good, regards M

Thanks for
listening to this Mark, I particularly wanted to know what you thought of the solo guitar, as I'm no solo guitarist and it's not quite the same second guessing while using midi, which notes fingers would be capable of moving to if one's not familiar with the guitar technique. unrequited
to me, this is a bittersweet song. the lyrics taken alone sound like an uplifting appreciation of love, yet the sadness in the melody makes one think that it's an unrequited love. only the last line hints at that interpretation. it's wonderful, giving it a much deeper meaning than if the song were only just one or the other. wow!

not much more a can add that hasn't been said already... the "bird in flight" sweeping bells work great

thanks

oh!
I am loving this. How groovy....don't you love it when the song takes control and tells you what it wants and it begins to build itself, morphing into something you never expected. In this case it took you (and us) to a dreamy wonderful land that smacked of romance and longing. Your voice on this seems really relaxed and full, digging the lower register vibrato you are getting. You also got a wonderful depth of stage space with the reverb design. Great job!

Really pleased
that you're loving it Phillip.... and you're 'getting it' too when you say that the song takes control... it is great when that happens as it did here. Glad you found the romance there. It is a very sexy rhythm as I listen to it. Glad you liked the vocals, though as I said to another, I wish I could have got it smoother....... and you got why I placed the reverb where it is too..... to give the feeling of space. Thanks a lot for taking the time to listen and write, regards M

Like you how you have the synth classical guitar sound. Like the reverb of it. Again, you pull through with a nice therapy of calming cultural sounds. That sooth. Again very good placement of the lead guitar especially.

Nice guitar
Guitar work is beautiful. Reminds me of "Stairway to Heaven," or "Classical Gas." Your ax may be a cheapo, but it does not sound that way. I see acoustic guitars advertised for five thousand dollars, and I cannot tell the difference between that one and a five-hundred-dollar guitar. I think it's mostly the player that makes the difference. And you've got some great guitar chops.

Lyrics are well-constructed. I like the spaces between the lines -- it's good to hear the vamp for a few seconds in between each line.

The ending out-of-tempo section is very effective. Good idea!

Likey Likey
Love the latin/flamingo vibe on this. I always like the fiery flare of latin music and even on the slow ballads like you have here. Probably some connection to my passion for percussion and or, vs versa, whatever the case may be, but regardless of it's way of appealing to me, you or, "it" is definitely working on this piece. As well, I know what you mean about that interesting way that music does what it does as it's becoming what it shall be..., that's when I know to REALLy step aside and get out of the way to watch and listen later to a life that the music seems to have chosen before we even gave conscious thought to it.

Liked the g'tar and a very nice job on the vocals too! Not many seem to choose to be able to pull this sort of thing off so, that makes it kind of a rare treat here.

Beautiful song, Maurice. Thanks for sharing.

I know
what you mean about the beat Dion. To me it comes across as sultry and seductive.... I can just imagine a Flamenco dancer, dancing slowly to the beat (glad I chose that particular one LOL)and that was portrayed in the artwork I chose and which didn't appear for some reason. I think its best to let a song go where it wants to go and I suppose it's like any other form of art in that respect. I've had a few paintings do that same thing.
Anyway thanks for the nice comment and I'm really glad you liked this, cheers M
