Cool tune Nice melody lines and harmonies. To throw my 2 cents worth in for orchestral writing...try to give more "space" to the instruments in the middle frequencies. The horns flute, and middle strings are all sharing that same space right in the center of the frequency spectrum, sort of like having 3 or four rhythm guitarists in one band. Try moving the string voices above and below the horns to let them be heard. Also in some cases just pull those strings out of the middle registers entirely since you have some doubling of harmony notes. You can also use some EQ on the Harp so that it stands out a bit more in the upper registers and has a little more brightness. The best way to learn orchestral writing is to listen to a lot of orchestral music to see how the instruments balance each other and how they sit in the sonic space. BTW, that's a great photo! wow I appreciate the effort you made commenting Bubowski, because I really welcome constructive feedback. you gave me some good pointers there: I guess when I'm mixing I notice a lot of competition for the middle frequencies and it's pure laziness that I don't rewrite the parts to fill the space. nice soundstage On headphones you have set up an interesting sound stage here that is on one hand broad but also is internalized. Just as one would feel if standing at the spot the photo was taken. Good choices and execution. Check out my latest song called It Was a Dark and Stormy Night

Great photo I only glimpsed it from afar at Hakkone long ago, stunning photo here. Very tasteful composition, calming, like a sunset. I think possibly giving more breaks or space from time to time in your music would help, the strings (and sometimes the horns) hold notes for several measures, and a little touch more crescendo on some of those held notes would help.
