Description
This mix is an outtake mix or, from another point of view, a variation on a theme. The original theme being the track 'Ice Cold Heart Silicon Brain' on my free Ambient album (link on my main page here at Macjams).

I had completed the album track and then decided to vary settings and others things and this mix came out, similar enough to be a variation but different enough to hold its own (hopefully) on here.

The story behind the original track and this variation are that I had named the album 'The Mechanism of the Soul' but had Space Ambient tracks ready to put into a track list and no track could loosely be 'earthed' or closer to human, so I came up with this mix and the one that made it to the album.

If you have time, please listen to this track and the free album. The tracks available in the album are all 256Kb MP3 files, so are higher quality.

As always, please let me know your thoughts on this mix or any of the album tracks that you haven't heard before.

Happy Reinholt.
Patented Reinholt56 sound*. So many interesting things going on. You have a particular way with ambient. It moves a lot. The particulars of the mix give it kind of a closed in feel. Reminds me of a soundtrack to a sci-fi radio program (I wish they still played those). Of course, they didn't have synths back then, but still....

It's very thoughtful. I didn't hear it as upbeat, maybe just because I'm sleepy. Another choice piece of work.

*That being a good thing.

Hi Duane....
I'm glad you thought kindly about this piece. I wasn't too sure about people and their reaction to it after saying that it was an 'outtake' from an album. I myself have listened to it a dozen or so times after putting it to one side and thought it was OK enough to upload.

It seems upbeat to me because of the percussion. I tend not to use too much percussion, and usually rely on bass or an inherent beat within the music, to keep things together.

It's good to hear your views on my mixes. I can listen to the pieces again, with yours and others ideas altering my original perception of the piece and the ideas I had when creating the mix.

Take care.

Cool
Very cool. Something cerebral and oddly cold about this, I think. Some intriguing sounds, and touches of dissonance in the changes, all adding up to something faintly unsettling (but in a good way!). Very cool. Nicely done. Peace.

Hi Dajama.......
I know where you're coming from with your thoughts here. Each time I listen to the finished mix I hear something different, but because I listen from the point of view of one of the 16 or so tracks, so putting the rest of the mix into the background. Your ideas ring a bell and I guess I'm going to have to listen to it again.....

Take care.

Cool arps
Lots going on here but it all melds together really well. I like the combination of the playful high arps and the sinister lower frequencies. Good stuff indeed.

Hi.....
After listening to your latest mix, my mix seems to be from a different planet entirely. I am of course very happy that you thought my mix interesting. It is always a bonus when fellow Ambienteers listen to my music and find some common interest.

Here's to both our next mixes....

Take care.

Hi Linda......
Thanks for stopping by...

This mix and the original mix came out of the blue, as far as content, so I think that I've run out of ideas down this particular musical avenue. We'll see.

Take care.

if music can dream
it is what music will dream. each chord dreams a vision, and the vision is encoded in colour. the colours dance on the walls of a midnight room. the boy is asleep and does not see the dance. but the radio was not turned off. the music softly fills the room with color. it is good for you to share this musical dream. the boy missed the dance, but we can see it. thank you. 0x0

Hi ic42....
I really enjoyed your vision of this soundscape. It makes me shiver because I can also see what you see here.

Your thoughts are always most welcome here.

Take care.
