Stepping Down

Description
Staying home sick with a brand new 20" iMac and a shining copy of Logic Studio 8 only points to one thing - a new upload.

This is something I whipped up today, when I was feeling immensely bored. This cheered me up in a weird way.

There are still some things here I'm considering fixing up/cutting down/adding to - for instance, this is definitely missing a melody on top of all this - but I can't resist uploading it right now.

This conjures up
images of a nightime scene. Kind of pensive. If it's goal is truly music for picture I wouldn't even bother with more (melody) over the top. It might actually be distracting.
Regardless of where it ends up it's a great piece of work. Good job.

Nice indeed
Simple yet creative. Good production too. And yes, it stands on its own
- while I couldn't help grabbing a guitar
and improvising along.

Thanks for sharing !

Impressive to be able to do this in 1 day!
It seems to need something, perhaps a melody, as you say, to enter at some point in the first section, but the way you build up the texture is really good. And the way it unfolds is just great! As always, you have come up with some very good music.

Step Down a Step Up
Nicely excuted, the string touches are soulful and effective. The decisions about how to built this piece were well considered. Keep up the great work.

EINAR!!! Where have you been?? It is so great to hear a post from you, and I knew I would love it before hitting "play". I'm really sorry you've been sick, but WOW - maybe you could work a little more composing time into your schedule? I really like the piano bits (of course :-) ) and the little tinkle-thingees that start it off and stay throughout are very cool. Nice work!

Good to have you back again, Einar...
Sure, it wants to have a melody, and sure, it also wants to be a song with words... but what's already here is just so READY for whichever way you want to take it... I can hear melodies and even guitar riffs over it, and I can hear words that want to find their way in... I like that arpeggiated figure that starts it, and I really like the tight-yet-relaxed feel as it begins to fill in...

Feel better, and keep writing and recording... Cool about the iMac and Logic Studio...
