Description
Here's something live from the vault of old recordings. Recorded in India - where I lived on and off a while back - it features Bikram Singh, a gifted bansuri flute player I had the opportunity to occasionally jam with. Trained in indian classical music, the beauty is that his playing was also grounded in folkloric music as he was raised in a village where he picked up the flute at a tender age. Also playing here are a friend of his on tablas, and a friend of mine on bass. We made an afternoon session the day before I left the country, as I wanted to capture something of the wonderful moments we had playing together.
The piece is based on chords of mine, largely improvised, though we quickly worked out a theme I'd already found, for the occasion. I tweaked the audio file to the best of my ability in Logic.
Enjoy.
