Life Without You

Description
Here's another one of my basic alt/pop songs. Not sure where this came from. I had the chorus in my head and took the song from there. I kept everything pretty simple and didn't get too crazy with the layers.
It's one of those songs that makes me kinda laugh when I hear it, probably because of it's simplicity. It's fun though and I'm just enjoying playing music without getting too critical lately. Enjoy.

Lyrics
Life Without You

I see you there standing across the way
And I’m searching for the just right thing to say
But I can’t find the words they hide deep inside
I guess I’ll never get it right

You’re so beautiful to me
Lets just take a chance and maybe you’ll see
Tripping over lines I’ve practiced everyday
Will you love me anyway

How can I make you believe
I’ll bring you happiness, I’ll never deceive
And feeling’s just so right
Can’t let you get away without a fight
I read the stars at night searching for a way
To tell you that I need you today

Close my eyes and I always see you face
When you touch my hand my heart stops in its place
I know I need some work but this I know is true
Just can’t picture my life without you

Excellent

.. reminded me of The Cars... just missing the synths .. in fact if some synths backed up those "woo hoo hoo" bits .. you might be even more Car'ish, with some Blink 182 ness to me somewhere .. Top notch vocals .. solid production. Nice rock/pop song. Thanks for sharing and keep up the excellent songs.

Cars
I never really thought about synths when recording, you're right though the chorus would be perfect. I'll have to make an alternative Cars mix. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

vroom vroom
The guitars sound great on the headphones.
Another hit for the radio.
I wou...I was just going to say maybe a bit of organ sound but it just came in right now.
But everything else is brilliant
Great stuff Nick
Cool

radio man
The organ was a must on this, I heard the same thing on the initial mix and added it. I haven't listened on headphones yet.
Thanks Brendan.

I usually don't sing the high notes but I figured what the heck this time. Came out alright too. Thanks for the support Gail.

Simple is good Nick
Great writing and an awesome vocal delivery make this song work my friend. And while the back tracks are simple they're not overly so and work just fine in the context of this song. I think you have a winner on your hands Nick, Kudos for a job well done.

simple
Just playing music and keeping it simple is usually the best thing to do. Over-complicating just messes my stuff up. I thought about adding a guitar solo and then decided against it.
Thanks Ed.

For me
this is your best vocal yet and a great song with good lyrics. The instrumentation sounds great and well balanced too and I just loved the way it all flooded in at the 1.23 mark.... sounds so good, regards M

Great voice
its a head nodder. I agree it has The Cars feel to it and there is nothing wrong about that eh? Stella melody but your voice really carries this.

Cars
The Cars are my favorite band from the 80's. If I could just capture a little of their style I'd be thrilled. I'm glad the up front vocals aren't scaring people away :)
Thanks tokai.

70/80's Revival
I too am hearing the Cars and as stated already by apb a little synth magic to compliment the 'woo hoos' could only add to the pull the piece already has.Solid and satisfying!

balance
Nick,
The perfect balance between simplicity and complexity. The simplicity lasted a little longer than I expected that made the build that much more gratifying when it came. Are the drums just a little late? The kick seems just a hair behind the beat? Or id it just me? That happens to me sometimes and I can never figure out why...anyway....Great job on the vocal range. You can SING man! High notes be damned, you nailed it. You strike just the right balance of earnestness and reserve in the vocal delivery. The guitars as usual are perfect. The wooos-woos are excellent, classic and well, just right.
Cheers,
P

Really nice pop tune Nick. Glad I checked your Profile Page out just now bro.

Enjoy your singing on this very much.

The mix sounds very pro...Almost U2-like in feel in some parts.

are sounding really good lately, Nick. Some of the greatest songs are as simple as this. Great post. Reminds me a bit of Green Day. Love the woo oo oo oo BG vox.

I've been moving way too much in the last few years and somehow eventually ended up in Texas. Funny how things work as I never saw myself here. I've been playing music in some fashion or another since I was 16 and love it. Its been great listening... [see more]
