The Lonliness and the Waiting

Description
Picture if you will a 2 kilometer long space vessel that is carrying thousands of people, of various ages, to a new life many years away (travel time) on a new world orbiting another star in another part of the galaxy.

Imagine their waking times as being adventurous and maybe interesting for the first year, but then when they've got to know everyone and they seek new stimulation, they wander around the ship and get lost or just want to be alone.

This piece is about that time when lonliness of space hits and they have no way of changing where they are, for another four or five (or more years of travel).

No doubt...
...you will enjoy the new Star Trek movie, Paul...but YOUR musical creations suggest a much more realistic approach to space travel, dwelling here on the tedium of the years it will take to get anywhere outside of our galaxy unless we find a way to use worm holes... Now THERE's a topic for your consideration. I wonder what you'd come up with should anyone every encounter this mysterious space in space... Again, you take me on a trip with your little trip and it all feels so authentic.
Peace.

Hi Paul.....
Yes, the new Star Trek film looks very promising and I await the release with eager anticipation.

Worm holes sounds an interesting topic with which to explore soundscapes, so watch this space........

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your kind, evocative thoughts.

Take care.

you are so good
at creating exactly what your words describe. this has a feel of both space and confinement. warm and musty recycled air, but you know that just on the other side of the metal and glass is open space, colder and more vast than anything you could ever imagine. there is definitely lonliness and familiarity in some of the repeated sounds and phrases, but never boredom or resignation. this is beautiful, in a slow, methodical kind of way. soothing in it's empathy of the ennui. wonderfully done.

Hi Kassia.......
I'll let you in to a little secret.....I sometimes go with the flow of a mix or two and then name it afterwards, and this was one of those, where the naming came through the picture that the tune conjured in my minds eye as I listened to the finished piece. It's an easier way to do tunes for me, where my constraints are post production that during the initial mixing stages.

There's a Sci-Fi novel called Salt, where some of my pictures/ideas came from. The rest is purely my over-active mind.

Take care.
