So I used to play piano too, quite a while ago, though I never had one home and would play in Cafés whenever I could lay my hands on one of them. It's always been one of my favorite instruments, especially the real wooden thing, and I have a dream of getting one, one of these days.
This is one of very few recordings I have of my piano playing. I could have included in the 'India Jams series' as it was recorded there, of all places, yet decided to leave that series to the definitely indian flavored recordings. Which this one isn't.
Recorded live, this piece finds me at the piano, leading, so to speak, the other musicians participating in that one night only performance, given in a barn, musicians who were also friends and had the kindness to join me for the event. Including violin, keyboard and percussion, the performance was totally improvised, save for the central theme which I had worked out with the violinist.
I tweaked the audio file in Logic to the best of my ability - the recording's balance of instruments, for one thing, isn't too good. So be it.
I took the freedom to put this in the piano genre, for the piano is, after all, central to it. In fact, it almost happened as a solo performance and that changed when other showed interest in joining in.
Enjoy.

...OPEN SEA. You've captured the spaciousness of the environment beautifully with this improvisation. There is a certain openness and expectation about this composition that I find very appealing. You go over the same general material many times, but the serenity of the scene you are painting comes through with clarity and unobstructed by over-production. You've used the resources available to you with great care, and the effect is peaceful. As a composition to accompany a "yoga event" or some sort of meditation, this is just perfect.
Peace.
