Description
In 1669 the british government introduced a window tax which was bought in to replace the 'unpopular' tea tax.
It may seem petty but I found this piece of history the epitome of meanness which led me to think on how EVERYTHING is
taxed to pay for what ??
While the vast majority of us are struggling to make our way our Politicians are claiming expenses..from the taxpayers pockets so they can have a second home, have their tennis courts fixed and the vast gardens tended to.
I just really wanted to put this song up because of the current situation.
Hope you gleam something from it

Lyrics
Attack, penny pinching parasites
Attack, you’d like to tax the daylight
Want to get an inch just to try and stay ahead
Something inside says you’re better off dead

Attack, a part of the machinery
Attack, a victim of your gluttony
We are the oil on the cogs and the wheels
We are the pain you will never ever feel

I wonder what’s behind your smile
The beauty you defile

Attack, bought to your knees
Attack, begging pretty please
Looking for a way out , hoping for a break
but the core of your being is take, take, take

Attack, we put in all the hours
Attack, in you ivory towers
Never have to worry cos you never foot the bill
Always need more even though you’ve had your fill

I wonder what’s behind your smile
The beauty you defile

Attack, good for the economy
Attack, a nationwide lobotomy
Take away your rights so you can’t rebel
Surrender unto caesar, well you might as well

Attack, stolen your identity
Attack, surveillance society
Treated like a criminal but the only crime
is watching what we’re doing all of the time

I wonder what’s behind your smile
The beauty you defile

I wonder what’s behind your smile
The beauty you defile

Attack, penny pinching parasites
Attack, you’d like to tax the daylight
Want to get an inch just to try and stay ahead

Attack a tax
I find it harder to do harder rockier stuff. I never feel it has enough 'intensity'.
I just wanted to get this up now.
Hope it worked on some levels at least
Thanks for dropping as and your comments
Cheers

Good one!
This reminds me a bit of Quadrophenia - era Who.
You keep the intensity going throughout. Neat drum part.
Interesting subject matter... so you don't like politicians? :)
Applause!

Ta Relic
I was trying to do a sort of killing joke track but could never get the intensity of Martin Atkins drums though the rhythm is one he uses quite a bit.
Although I wasn't entirely happy with the mix the subject felt relevant with what's going on in the UK at the moment.
I don't think anyone likes politicians right now.

If we could go back in time
we'd see that the government always preyed on those who living under its jurisdiction. I doubt there ever were altruistic motives but only greedy, selfish ones behind the idea of taxation. We're lucky we get some goods and services but that was only because those were fought for. I can't imagine a window tax and as you put it "taxing the daylight". They couldn't pass an "air tax", huh? I thought you presented the idea well and it rocks. Excellent representational art. Thanks.

tax the daylight
I was also listening to taxman by the Beatles the other day and the sentiment was the same.
The picture was meant to illustrate that the way people tried to get out of the window tax was to..brick up their windows.
There are many old buildings in London that have these bricked up windows.
Thank you for your extra comments and thoughts.
Much appreciated
Thank you

bass
The bass was one of the bits I wasn't that happy with..I even backed it up with some proper bass.
I guess it must have worked if you liked it.
Was quite pleased with the lyrics though ;-)
Thanks for dropping and glad you enjoyed it

Simply
excellent! Killing Joke mixed with Iggy Pop. Whenever I see a building with bricked up widows I wonder if it was because of the window tax. Great tune and lyrics!

bricked up
To the best of my knowledge that's why they're bricked up.
I just saw Killing Joke last week so this spurred me on a bit to put this up.
Oh, if only I could play guitar like Geordie ;-)
Anyway, thanks for dropping in
Glad you liked it
cheers

More??
I was a bit wary of putting this one up because it's quite different to my 'usual' stuff.
Maybe I should do more like this then if you like it ;-)

The Kids Are All Right
...when they say we like this!

Your voice sounds really good pushing through that loud rock guitar noise.

Please, listen to the kids. They know what they want and they want it now!

The kids are united
Double tracked the vocals with a bit of distortion on one of them.
Took me ages to decide how high up to put them in the mix.
Anyway. The kids have spoken.
Will have to see what else I can come up with ;-)

I was just tapping in to the mood of the country at the moment.
There's a lot of bad blood between Joe Public and the politicians right now.

Great song
lyrics and performance. I have found that most people don't even bother to talk about it, not surprised, just apathetic.

Well said!
Well played, written and sung! Seeing how tax monies are constantly being wasted/misappropriated and the "solution" is to raise taxes higher is beyond comprehension. (Your lyrics really struck a nerve, lol! ) Absolutely fab track- had to download this one. Thanks!

driving...
Could you possibly download your voice to my inbox?!! This really pounds along. I think I like your funkier sounds better, but this is good too. I don't think all politicians are as cynical and out for themselves as you suggest, but as a vision for song it works really well. Great!

very professional sounding. This track has a lot of feeling. The riffs sound awesome too and nice job on the vocals. I'd encourage you to throw some lead guitar lines into the mix.
