I hear...
...continued change in the vocals, Steve. More breath and air there, and pitching the singing a whisker or two higher than in the old days, along with greater confidence in the melodic lines. And is there a bit of doubling in there?

Are both guitars acoustic? And is the acoustic plugged in or mic'd, or both?

There's a nice immediacy to this... I could imagine sequencing this after a fairly produced piece, and getting a great home recording/kitchen table contrast going on...

Acoustic
Your voice is sensational, as I always comment. Terrific song. Effortless.

I like
the higher key than in the old days Steve - your voice retains the quality without the foghorn - and still sounds rich and warm. Nice acoustic sound - limited production techniques seem to suit you :) I'd still like to hear you use a (audible) bass track on your stuff - once drums are there, to me at least, there needs to be bass. I hear bits of basslines, but they sound like the guitar doing them rather than bass. A personal viewpoint only - it still sounds good.

Oh - a nice song also.

right and real
Acoustic sounds great dude - love the squeaks between fingerings, and the subtle lead is really nice. You've got a classic sounding folk/rock voice, always enjoying hearing it. Great laid back vibe, all sun and hardwood floors. Dig it.

Letting It Go
I like the old Steve and I like the new Steve. To tell the truth I hear the same guy there and that's what counts. The uptempo ballad style struck me as being especially likeable for your kind of music. Listening for the second time now. Nice simple but very effective little acoustic intro and then your voice comes in and it does sound very nice. Arrangement is just enough and does a good job of framing your voice rather than burying it.

I feel
as though you've found a new confidence in your vocal on this Michael, as there's so much feeling and expression...... and it sounds even better than ever. Love the guitar sounds here and this style of playing really suits you too, regards M
