Description
another kick at the (heavy) metal can.
kind of similar to a previous effort of mine entitled "aluminum waif"
i tried to make the vocals somewhat more idiomatic to the death metal genre, since that's the type of metal I tend to like.
I tried to make the lyrics tell a bit more of a story. about a misfortunate lad who starts losing his mind from viewing too much disturbing content on the internet... instead of taking a break from surfing the web, he decides that drilling a hole into his skull will help him feel better...

many thanks to maxjsl37 (John), esteemed MacJams colleague who agreed to pre-listen to the track and gave helpful feedback, esp. regarding master track settings. The man knows his rock and roll and I would urge you all to check out his stuff! any shortcomings of the song are my fault of course... :)

Lyrics
the terrors I've seen in basements of the intermind
they made me a wasteland
demons are real now, \ they're in the mirrorface
but they don't reverse

a rosy cross will bloom unblessed
that will be my royal crest

plague of sorrows ___mounting dread
nightmares inside nightmares
something needs to be let out
good blood after bad - blood -

plug in the drill now bring my forehead close,
aim for the x
if the hand should slip, the bit goes in too far -
it's the end of the game

i didn't know you could..
..sing with that kind of deep growl. very appropriate for hardcore metal.

everything from heavy guitars through the drums is dead on.

now are you spending a lot of time at the tattoo parlor? ;-)

Grrr...
many thanks for listening and commenting!
I practiced the growl for a while until it seemed semi-respectable. It was pretty hard. There was a good website with instructions on how to do it on WikiHow. God I'm a nerd.
No tattoos yet... maybe I'll start with a "Cannibal Corpse" t-shirt...

fun da metal
great tune. That drumming is very special and gives the whole tune a solid block to kick off the rest. Real metal vocals.

tattoo you
you mean this is the only song about autotrephination on MJ? Difficult to believe! Tell me you modified those vox dude otherwise all i can say is "hope the surgery goes well"...but very cool tune, totally authentic. more straight ahead contemporary death metal than aluminum waif. i really dig the fact that you're doing this - must have been really fun to write/play. was listening to "cowboys from hell" this morning and this tune fits right in...

hole in the head
Just doing my small part to correct the paucity of songs about skull-drilling. There is a bit of eQ and detuning on the vox, not heavily effected though... thanks for checking out the tune!
My next one is a car song so I'm hoping it will meet with the Tempie Army seal of approval....

trepanning
Great crunchy guitars..and solo-ing.
Would maybe put a touch of reverb on the drums to give them a slightly more 'live' feel but apart from that a cool metal track

drums and wires
Used a boss metal core pedal for the distortion.
I will definitely try out the reverb if I use those loops again... thanks for the suggestion!

Sounds like a
requiem for a lobotomy. I enjoyed it even though heavy metal usually frightens me. This was good music. Thanks.

Clutch - I assume that's a band? I'll have to check them out.
The guitar solo is just a bunch of noise. No "hungarian minor" scales there I'm afraid! LOL
