Description

This is a song that i wrote and recorded a couple of years ago, for my beloved. At the time i wrote it, we had never met in real life. He is a musician and we found each other through (ahem) one of those "other" mac music community sites. :D

He lives in Tasmania and i was finally able to travel there and stay with him for a while. I returned earlier this month and, honestly, i'm pretty down.

It's a song about longing, but in a hopeful, good way, i guess. Unlike some of my other songs that are about longing and yearning but in a kind of despondent way. So... maybe because i am feeling melancholy and the aching and longing have returned, maybe i am looking to this song to make that longing more hopeful... ?

Anyway, even though this is an older song of mine, it is so relevant for me right now and i've not been able to come up with any new tunes, and i've not uploaded anything to MacJams for a long time, and i guess i just need to feel part of things in some small way.

Love the start Miri - when you begin to sing just sounds so amazing!.. Love the sounds you make - a little Enya as Eduard said and also a little Kate Bush (both very good things from my point of view). I hope everything works out for you guys.

Very unique song....
I don't hear Enya at all... I hear an icelandic band call Mum, a bit of Kate Bush and the Cocteau Twins. and a dash of the Cranes.... this is all very complimentary as I a big fan of them all. I have come to your songs later than most... but I am really enjoying them... very organic sound and instinctive vocalizations...

More than a dash ..

.. of Kate Bush to me... with a bit of Enya (that more when the drums comes in from the stabby harmonies ..but I was still thinking 'running up that hill'). Simply marvelous. Such a warm mix .. and you certainly know where to place things around in the stereo field and just the right amount of effects on the vocals.. fantastic choice of instrumentation too. Brilliant.

Like you might lead my down an incredibly magical path and then I find out you were a figment of my imagination and I've wound up in the darkest most horrific hole where nobody knows I am. I don't understand what you say in your bio about not being very skilled. Coming up with a song like this! It is very special and I'm sure you know what you do, musically.
I have to get used to how you use your voice, though. It sounds a bit child-womanlike and that is something which usually doesn't appeal to me. But it sure adds to the special atmosphere of your music. I just listened to your Mr. Johnson song and there it fits perfectly well, combined with your lyrics. Hmm, maybe I should just check out some more of your songs. Please keep up sharing!
