Description
I began with the "relaxed groove" drum loop from GB. All the rest is playing or penciling by me. I meant to have a bass solo at some point in the song, but whenever I try it sound like a low register piano solo. Let me know what you think.

Sounds good to me Bill
I recognized the bass line and it does sound a little like a piano line instead of bass. But that said, you did a great job on the rest of this piece. Now there's a bass line coming in about 2:20 which sounds really good.

I like the variations and the instrument mix on this Bill and the cymbal work in it.

Nice piece my friend

Ed

I hear what you are saying about the bass. My wife thought it was a bit heavy, but I may have turned it down too much.

The beat...
...is great, Bill, and I like the heavy bass, too, probably because I'm slowly losing my hearing and I need that drive to keep me on track. The counterpoint of bells, piano, etc. are very nice and give the piece some forward movement...I am glad you dropped the loop out about 2 minutes in and left it up to solo piano...then a nice bass romp to start it all up again...I'd love to see this shift keys by about 4 half steps right after the bass solo...You could keep all the rest, but in the new key you'd immediately have a bunch of new energy...This is a groovy number (did I just say that?)...longer fade...fade...fade...fade...and you'll be THERE. Cool. Pop a flute line over the bass (or) piano as a further development. Wow. There's so much that this piece offers. It's nice to hear something so open-ended. The possibilities for invention are virtually endless. Nice.
Peace.
Paul

Thanks for the excellent comments. I was originally thinking of posting the basic "beat" to open collabs. Many of your suggestions are within my capability, so there may be another version in a couple weeks.

I enjoyed
this Bill, the bass sounds fine to me especially where Ed said about 2-20 and the driving type beat sounds great along with the Electric piano.... has kind of a city-scape feel to it...... certainly good pencilling, cheers M

nice
Bill, especially likin that overdrive wurltzer sound. Perfect for the lead with just the right scorch of distortion. I thought the bass riffage was pretty cool. Some tasty voicings towards the end as well

Thanks for the word on the voicings at the end, I did consciously try to open up the chords a little to get a brighter sound.

Wow
Me likey a lot! This gets the foot tapping for sure! I love the chords on the piano working against the electric piano lead. Very nice.

I like the bass work in the middle... To me it very clear it was a bass. Not sure if you used a loop or that was you but whatever it was cool.

Nice build ups and let downs in this tune. Very nicely done Bill!

Bass is something I played. I loop it though out the piece, but I guess it only stands out when it is by itself. I had wanted to extend the bass solo with some freer soloing, but that is what never came out well. Thanks for noticing the ups and downs, without those this was only 16 bars.

superb tune Bill, it has a great groove and I love the electric piano sound on top of them wonderful piano chords.
The bass sounds great and I like the refrain and the way the song builds again, a nice touch.

Nice relaxed kind of groove happening
Love those chords and how you put them against the solo. Drums and bass work really well for me here. A kind of live combo feel. Amazing penciling work Bill - not an easy task. I agree with Paul that if you wanted to develop this further then you could do something further into the tune in a new key and see what else in terms of creativity that brings for you.

Like this one!
Be well,
Doug
