Description
Mark Deskin sent me this Big Music with this directive: "see if you can conjure up a scene of triumph or victory for all things good in the world." THANKS, MARK! Way to give a girl a clue! ;)

The "heavy breathing" is actually a reverb from his instrumental, but I liked that it's sort of a Human Being Chugging Up the Hill of Life effect. Not sure this mix works, but I would like to offer it up to the gawds and ya'll.

Lyrics
LEGENDS

you
have been hiding from yourself

all of your safe and shallow life
time
to reveal the truth

slash it open with your sharpest knife

you
have lived meek and mild

simply along for the ride
it's time to make a stand
and let yourself

listen to your own guide
**

close your eyes and look inside
and picture every legend

every hero you've ever known

close your eyes and
conjure up a vision

of victory and triumph

for the goodness you own
**
you
have been meaning to change

you know you're missing something

you wonder what it could be
time
to shake hands with yourself

time to let all the parts of you meet

you
can feel good about yourself

you've seen your worst and survived it
you
have nothing else to fear

enjoy the gift of being alive
***

close your eyes and look inside
and picture every legend

every hero you've ever known
close your eyes and
conjure up a vision
of victory and triumph

for the goodness you've sown

so powerful. Lyrically and emotional potent brew. Your vocal is almost angelic here. Thats a new side of the sisters for me :-) You did a fantastic job with this. The music is a joy. Delicate and full of imagery.

I wasn't sure what to expect, this being in the "Other" category, but I certainly didn't expect this! Wow. I really enjoyed this. I wouldn't know if another mix would work better, but I definitely love what you've done here. The saxophone is perfect when it comes in.

Exceptional mix.
Unique sound bed, light and quirky. Voices are lilting and trance inducing. Wonderful lyrics, very much metaphorical and moralistic. Thanks.

Big Sis!
Lovely song and beautiful performances (as usual). Your vocals are killer (as usual).

You asked about the mix ....now I'm probably the last person to be saying this as I have a lot of "hot" mixes in my repertoire, but I think maybe you could have tried for a little more "air" in this mix. It's not something that most people would notice or care about, but just that you asked for comments.

There's a warm clarity to your voice
that is so welcoming - solo and in harmony. It's like coming in from the cold and getting wrapped in your favourite blanket in front of the fire. Reminds me a bit of Wendy Woo.

Instrumentals and orchestration are right on. Brilliant and tasteful flourishes throughout, and kind of percolating to the keyboard keeping things rolling along.

And those lyrics strike a chord of truth that is rare to hear. I'd love to pass this song on to some of my clients.

Unfortunately, I don't have good speakers where I am now to comment on the mix but from what I can tell on the laptop it sounds pretty darn good.

Truly magical collab - so much talent here it's quite amazing.

Peace,
Doug
