Disco baby

Description
This started life on a Casio SK-1 keyboard, disco preset, Am, Dm, G, Em, then I got some lyrics down about some people dancing in a club unaware that world war III is raging on outside.
I've never fully understood the 'escapism' aspect of going to a disco.
Was trying to be ironic and I do not advocate the use of ecstasy.
NB: Disco biscuits are slang for ecstasy something that seems to have escaped the manufactuers of the sweets in the picture.
Hope you like it

Lyrics
There’s only three steps to armageddon
and we’re dropping ecstasy
and dance into oblivion
In the illusion that we’re free

Well it’s a crash course for the ravers
and the D.J is a god
You can purge yourself of your sins
In a nightclub

I’ll take you to the disco baby
and we can dance all night
and to the flashing lights, to the techno beat
we’ll pretend that everything is alright

Well I’ll get some pills
Off a friend of mine
And we’ll be all loved up
at armmagedeon time

I’ll take you to the disco baby
and we can dance all night
and to the flashing light, to the techno beat
we’ll pretend that everything is alright

Well it’s 120 b.p.m
And a laser show
4 minute warning
and an after glow

When the beat kicks in
then we’ll all get down
The reaper flicks the switch
and then paints the town...red

I’ll take you to the disco baby
and we can dance all night
and to the flashing lights, to the techno beat
we’ll pretend that everything is alright

I’ll take you to the disco baby
and we can dance all night
and to the flashing lights, to the techno beat
we’ll pretend that everything is alright

I have always
thought disco was a GREAT dance music and peoples hatred for it has never made sense to me ...all dance music SUX in my opinion because Im not a dancer :) But there is certain Music such as Disco techno crap-rap some rock ...that are great for dancing ....any way on a tangent :) I really like this song man ..its catchy and has a great dance beat to it something I could deff hear being played in a club ....nice throw back man !

the groove
There are some good songs with a groove and a hook.
I guess it's just some of the words on disco songs like 'last night a DJ saved my life' just sound a bit daft really.
Anyway. Glad you liked it and thanks for droppin in

Every truth you sing in this is spot on. Setting the backdrop against the dance dance while the end hangs in our faces we just dont care. LOved it all of it great great song!!!!

Ta!
I used to go to work on a monday and pass a night club that was open till the early hours.
As I was going to work I'd see all these bleary eyed ravers spilling out at 8.30 in the morning and was thinking how easy it would be to be in there and have no idea what was going on in the outside world.
Anyway. Glad you liked it
Much appreciated

Excellent track!
Nice concept for the lyrics, and the groove is perfect! The production on this sounds fantastic (makes me nervous about the current project I'm working on, hehe) I have to chuckle about liking this because back in the day I was so anti-disco, lol! (It's good when maturity kicks in) Had to download a copy to put in the iPod- Thanks!

Thanks Mike
I wasn't sure the mix was ok, glad you thought it was cool.
I was toying with doing an all out disco track and let the lyrics do the irony..but had to get the guitars in there.
Thanks for dropping in and your comments

crash course for the ravers
Wow King - yer having some fun writing songs these days! You inspire me to do something UNEXPECTED... What does that mean?

You painted this portrait in an old school realist style. Anyone that was there recognizes it. Really good story telling and a very smart use of a familiar phrase or two. Hard to imagine the flashing lights were outside the disco.

I love apocalyptic pop music!
Seriously, there's just something interesting about the end of the world set to pop music. Not only does this have a really nice, kind of retro disco sound, I love the lyrics as well. I mean, really, what would we really do when the bombs started falling - sex, music and drugs. ;)

Very cool tune!

Say it aint so..
An attack on disco! Nooooooooo. You've obviously not entered the ecstasy of endless dancing to a relentless beat!!! I can see what you're getting at, but isn't all art escapist in the sense that you can loose yourself in it and become part of something bigger - even if it's a riff or a thumping bassline? Ironically, it's quite a good piece of disco!!!

kingbee said 2826 days ago (July 4th, 2009)
120 rpm
I must admit I have danced for some time to a repetitive beat..and enjoyed it.
I was just imagining some people going to a club, dancing away, unaware that WW3 was going on outside.
Sometimes I don't mind the music, it's the DJ as a god that I find a bit odd.
BTW, it was your discobiscuit track that spurred me on to put this one up.
Thanks for dropping in and your comments
cheers
