Lyrics
I followed you and nearly lost my shoes
You never looked back to see me standing there
So I turned away and conceded on that day
I would spend my life
living the blues

I followed you and nearly lost my mind
you never looked back and treated me unkind
So I went astray and made sure I stayed that way
I would spend my life
singing your blues

[Chorus:]
I tried to make sense of it but I’m all alone
no one to turn to when things turn out wrong
I tried to tell you and you didn’t hear a word
whose to say what’s right or wrong if nothing’s ever heard?

I followed you and nearly lost my life
you never looked back and didn’t see the knife
So I went filet cause I couldn’t get away
I would spend my life
ducking the blues

I followed you and nearly lost my nerve
you never looked back on my choice to serve
So I jumped into the fray and knew that very day
I would spend my life
saluting the blues

I followed you and nearly lost my voice
you never looked back and silence was the choice
So I rue the day Chapman pissed it all away
I would spend my life
consulting the blues

[Chorus:]
I tried to make sense of it but I’m all alone
no one to turn to when things turn out wrong
I tried to tell you and you didn’t hear a word
whose to say what’s right or wrong if nothing’s ever heard?

I followed you and nearly lost my shoes
You never looked back to see me standing there
So I turned away and conceded on that day
I would spend my life
living the blues

Sorry, I won't be following you on MacJams
Words are OK, but the melody is pedestrian and predicatble. And I'm sorry, but your quavery vibrato irks me badly, sounds like a Pete Seger that's trying to hard.

Thanks man
Like Feter's and SJB's, your critique is appreciated. Many don't have the heart to say anything but they know what they like and I can sometimes find it in the wink of an eye. Really, just a nod of recognition is all it takes to motivate me and even my convictions.

Your assessment is spot on. It was totally spontaneous and nothing was planned.

I read a "Lennon followed" quote and BAM! I wrote a song. I spent even less time on the melody. In fact, I borrowed the opening from America's Tin Man, and made it my own. In all, I spent 10 minutes making this song, including the recording.

Lennon wouldn't follow me either and why would he, he's miles above my head. So I take no offense to your proclamation but while I have you here, would you be so kind as to allow me to inspect your body of work?

I'm assuming you're anything but pedestrian and predictable and if you are up to it, I would like to see what you believe is your best effort to date.

As for my singing, I can't fix that quavery crap. I'm as emotionally damaged as a seventeen-year-old.

I can't play certain songs without feeling a terrible pain, that I cry and have to stop, so that's why I wrote this blues song at a 120 beats per minute!

Cheers

Nice!
You can't please everyone but I'm happy to say I like your song.
Lennon actually invited you/me/us to follow him but only if you want to be a hero. I guess you have to be careful who you follow.
Mark Chapman was and always will be a pathetic twat.
All the best
Steve

Moving,
when I was a kid I thought I was John Lennon and though I`ve learned in the past
30 years that I`m not even half myself your song moved the old "lennon-ish" side in me.
Thx for that!!
